Default Tuning & Modifications

Hey everyone,

Well short story is I spun out my 2011 5.0 and it was declared a total loss vehicle so I took it as a opportunity to jump into a new 370Z. Loved these cars for some time now and I'm very excited about my new wheels. I have just one main question that I would appreciate help with.

How would one go about tuning these cars (parameters such as fuel, air and timing) once modifications are installed. For example with my 5.0 I installed a intake manifold, throttle body, cold air, long tube headers, high flow cats, performance mufflers and rear end gears. Once all this was installed all I had to do was plug in a SCT tuner to the ODBII port and load a custom email tune that was sent to me from my tuner and I was good to go

Is this similar for the 370's, are there tuners out there that send a tune based on your mods and you just plug a flash device into the port and load the new tables? If so what is the flash tool most commonly used?

I need some clarification on this as soon as possible please. I would also appreciate any recommended tuners and or suppliers for aftermarket parts. I also dont care if people feel that certain mods dont need tuning. I'm very picky and will tune no matter what mods are installed. Any help is greatly appreciated. I want to start my build ASAP but need some direction first.

Thanks

Here's a good start. It's probably where you should have posted this in the first place. Search is your friend, too

Well, first of all welcome to the forum. Second, there is a lot of info regarding tuning on here to help get you up to speed. Basically as of right now, only Uprev is supporting the Z. Cobb only supports 2009. Uprev offers mail tunes as you are already familiar with. Also offered are tunes from Uprev tuners, but you have to go back to them for adjustments. Lastly, there is a tuner version that allows you to pay $50 for a mail tune, or take it to any competent tuner and have it done. You must download the software from uprev onto a laptop and plug the cable into your OBDII port and usb in you laptop. You can do diagnostics, read & clear codes as well as tune on the fly. I recommend checking out their site to get up to snuff on it.

Thanks for the information. Whats the deal about coming from a Mustang to a 370Z. Both are beautiful cars in their own specific ways. With my Mustang I dealt with American Muscle for parts. Is there an aftermarket dealer for the 370 that would be on par with American Muscle in terms of great reputaion and customer service?

Thanks again

Plenty of forum vendors that support the community. There is a section for them too. Also if you check new posts, you will see them bumping their products.

Lol, because 70% of us go from 370Z to 5.0

We have great vendors, but expect to pay more for 370Z parts

Well I've been in the Mustang world for a while now. I've owned 6 in the last 10 years and have modified the majority of them. The handling of the 370 is much better than the 5.0 IMHO and as with any car TQ and HP is only a few bills away. Essentially by the time May rolls around I will be driving a 370 that will chew my 5.0 and handle much nicer. So can you list some of these great vendors?

Jeez thought coming to the 370 world would come with some pride, not people confused on why I made the choice lol

Cheers

Thanks. Question for you, did you do any aftermarket ordering for your 370? If so can you point me in the direction of which vendors you used.

Thanks again

I've used Z1 performance, Corner3garage, b2autodesign, GTM, and a few others. Not everyone has everything, so you might have to develop a few go to spots to get what you want/need
