For now I am happy as IMO still no car in the market has matched the Z in terms of value and performance. Its not a perfect/refined sports car but with its price range it satisfy my urge for speed and performance while I still dream of a supercar.

Maybe I won't even want one anymore.

there is no 4.0l engine in the whole Nissan lineup that is efficient enough to run in a sports car, unless you're talking about a Z pickup truck?

But Infiniti does have the Etherea Concept. Which is Infiniti's first FWD 245hp 2.5litre supercharged inline 4 destined to be in Infiniti's smallest 4 door car. Supposedly, this car is supposed to be sporty and run with a CVT.

ETHERea

Doesn't "ether" put you to sleep? I'm sleepy just talking about this car.

im happy with what nissan did with the Q50. they are going in a good direction. not worried because if the next Z is trash ill get a used GTR. Especially if the Z will be the same price as a used GTR in two years.

Was there a 3.8 before the GTR. All engines start somewhere and nissan has been slowly going up in displacement since the start. Why would they go away from a very successful sports car line up to switch to something new before testing it out.
2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, 3.5, 3.7 seems like a nice progression

My Z isn't going anywhere... So i'm not worried in that way. The Z34 is a keeper. But I will have it paid by the end of this year. So by the year after I will be looking for another sports car.
I really WANT TO add another Z!!! but if not?????
I would love a used GTR but the estimate in maintenance costs cost thousands a year. The way i drive, I'd go through tires and Brake pads too often, not to mention basic costs.
Besides $60k for something used? I thought about it deeply... Can't do it. I'm interested in what the next gen camaro will offer or the new corvette. The next mustang looks very promising but not sure about owning a mustang. It would have to be "The Shyt" to make the transition.

I will probably trade the Altima I bought my wife and upgrade her to a Q50. But the next car for me is in question.

FWD? Noooo

Heres the words from Motortrend: Nissan Working on Mini-Z to target FR-S/BRZ - Motor Trend

Quote:
On the heels of Nissan's recent motorsport successes -- a factory-backed GT-R placed first in class at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and the radical DeltaWing stole the show at the 24 Hours of Le Mans -- comes news that executives have finally given the green light for a compact sports car known in house as the "Mini-Z." It's not a new rear-drive Silvia/240SX -- that project was cancelled in late 2008 during the financial crisis. Instead, it's a compact, front-drive-based sports car that will be aimed squarely at the Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ. Plans for such a car were first revealed at last year's Shanghai auto show in the form of the Compact Sports Concept. The company spiel called it a unique sports car for drivers in emerging markets leading active lifestyles with an interest in motorsport, but we can expect to see it in established markets as well. As you can see in this rendering that depicts what the car may turn out to be, it has morphed from a sporty hatch into an aggressive coupe. There is also word that there will be an AWD version to go with the base FWD variant, based on the Juke's all-mode 4x4 i-system with torque vectoring.
Nissan Compact Sport Concept Front Three Quarters
The Compact Sports Concept
Though Nissan didn't reveal the concept's powertrain in Shanghai, we've learned it was fitted with the 190-hp, 1.6-liter turbo-four from the Nissan Juke that also served as base for the engine in the DeltaWing. Though the engine gives up some power to the 200-hp flat-four in the Toyobaru, it's said to have a wider torque band with stronger mid-range and top-end response. China is thought to be the car's main market, but Japan and some European countries are destined to receive small batches as well, with the U.S. still under consideration. Price-wise, the Nissan is expected to undercut the Toyota and Subaru by as much as 10 percent, carrying a sticker price somewhere below $22,000. Nissan will be able to cut production costs and weight by incorporating the current Juke's platform and turbo powertrain. Another major difference will be design. The Mini-Z coupe is expected to follow in the Juke's footsteps and employ some unique lines, eschewing the traditional sports car proportions of the Toyobaru. One insider says the Nissan will be close in size to the Honda CR-Z. The project was conceived as a joint Japan-China endeavor, with Japan taking the R&D initiative while China worked on design and data assembly, according to a source close to Nissan. It has since been approved by all the relevant departments inside Nissan's HQ, and, according to our source, is well into the development cycle with a debut possible as early as late 2013.

This Article states FWD/AWD??? This is from last summer when rumors were rampant but lead nowhere. Now we are beginning to see infiniti/nissan come out so we are getting a basic idea of the next gen nissan philosophy.

Non RWD platforms don't deserve to carry the Z, Silvia or Skyline name... Sounds like it make a great, Sentra/Altima coupe like someone mentioned. Or even designate a new name and generation of sports car. AWD/FWD, it won't be a BRZ direct competitor... It wont sell to the same type of enthsiast. But I'd rather the Turbo AWD than the N/A RWD.

The infinit, looks nice but looks like its more luxury than sport. Most infiniti concepts are electric... In Nissan... The Altima sportiness is dumbed down in style though it gained .4 second accelration. Sentra has no SE-R, looks kinda dull and lost 20hp, The pathfinder is the most laughable vehicle. Remember when a pathfinder was an Off road vehicle?

Looks are a big factor for me, even if the new Z is faster but lets say its like futuristic butt ugly that would really really suck compared to the design right now. I dont see how they are gonna top it! some even the prefer the 370z looks over a GTR that says alot... out.

all i know is im glad im leasing my Z, i can either hop into the new one or buy this one out.
I dont think ill be able to afford and M3 or Z06 by 2015...
