How much have u put up with ur 370z?

Op, You've seemed to have the two common things out of the way, And if you've already upgraded to oil cooler? Your Z should be trouble free here on out.

Op,

I have an 09 that just hit 19k miles on it. Luckily no real problems so far. I had it since June 2011 with 10k miles on it. It's my DD but I'm close to work and besides to and from work it in the garage bc we take my wife's car every where else. I was on the steering lock bypass waiting list before it was even finished being designed. Lock failure was by biggest fear so I made sure to get that out of the way. Made sure i didn't have oil consumption issues before I modded and ran out of warranty. Got the trunk springs replaced before warranty ran out. Then added my oil cooler. Been using redline since day one and changing every 3 months since I don't drive far. Did a trans fluid change and will do it yearly and diff fluid every 5k miles. Last is the CSC if I have the extra cash flow to do it along with clutch and flywheel before it fails I will. If not I will when and if it fails. Bc that's a lot of money up front to fix something that isn't broken. So for me so far so good. Like another member said do your research first see what's out there and try to take care of the items you can. Pretty much every car has some issues and the ones that don't probably aren't worth owning/driving. Last thing I noticed my upper radiator hose getting some coolant residue around the neck, so some Z1 hoses are going on today to take care of that.

The other question that should be asked (or axed) is "How much has my Z put up with my driving?"

My only annoying issue was with the CSC. Warrant covered master cylinder, CSC, and hoses, and labor. Had to put up with a ford fiesta that I though I was pedaling to get around.

Yes on my picky list the trunk rattles, I have a oem header leak at start up, and I get some strange ticking on acceleration above 4k.

I need to take it to the dealer and let that super warranty I bought fix everything while I enjoy the loaner.

I have a 2013 that I have had for about 3 months. The actuator that opens the fuel filler door didn't work from day one, so it was only in the unlocked position. Also, one of the retainer nuts that holds down the carpeting up the the drivers foot well area was missing.

Ok so i know the steering lock issue is a universal Z problem. But many of the other Z problems tend to run in the manual cars. Any mechanical issues that i should be concerned about (excluding oil/consump./fuel starve) that is either exclusive to the auto or universal? Just want to make sure I have it all covered...

Most states Lemon Laws state if you have to have something fixed by the manufacturer 3 times, they have to buy it back from you as it's a Lemon. Might be something to look into in your state if it's that bad and isn't under warranty, which what is their reasoning for that anyways?

Why is the dealership telling you it isn't covered under warranty?

Because I only have the Limited Warranty which covers "600+ components of your vehicle's major systems, uncluding powertrain" but I guess the steering wheel which he said needs to be replaced doesnt fall under that category.

Daily drive 35 - 40+ year old Z's for a while and you'll gain a whole new understanding of "putting up with" stuff. Seriously -- the 370 is a pussy cat by comparison.

1) 3 Trips to the dealership because of a dropped clutch. They finally just replaced the whole clutch assembly.

2) Steering Lock Problem. Wouldn't start.

I think those are the two universal problems with this car. Other than that it's great because I couldn't even come up with a car that I could trade this in for and be satisfied!

Sucks but you gotta pay to play!
