Zspeed and Z1 each has their own upgrade. Any feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of each version? I am on my 2nd oem clutch hydraulic system with 21k miles on it and anticipating an upgrade within 10k miles. I could use some feedback from those who have switched to aftermarket units. Thanks!

Z1 is currently running it on their shop Z34 and I think their spec Z Z33 racecar. Mine will be the 3rd, but I won't be driving the car until March 13/14/15th next at Road Atlanta.

Great, something else on this car I have to worry about breaking. First the steering wheel lock, and now this. Oh well.

But if it makes anyone feel better to know that issues like this are fairly common, take a look at this known issue with Chrysler LX-platform cars and their automatics:

Can't shift out of park, into gear, and pink thingy replacement

Just think, with one snap of a small arm (about the diameter of a headphone jack) that holds a spring, your $35k charger, magnum, or 300 becomes driveway ornament. Engine runs fine, just cant get it to shift out of park, unless you remove most of the shifter bezel, and move this "thing" manually with a screwdriver.

They are all doing it folks. The drive to make these cars cheaper so they get more profit out of them is leading to more and more of these issues that none of them want to deal with unless you hold them to the fire.

That's why I can't tell anyone what my dream car is. Anytime they ask, I tell them I don't have one because I haven't built it yet.

Well I am getting a better clutch and lighter flywheel installed so I'm doing the upgrade now so I don't have to deal with dealer anymore yes money out of pocket but always waste of time going to dealer now I have way too many mods now.

But yes keep going to dealer if it fails, insist on mc and csc replacement at the same time due to debris/contamination in the fluid.

I read this entire thread and I am not sure if this issue is for certain years or is an issue for all mt? I am hoping to purchase a mt this spring and and I am thinking, at, mt or buy used mt and just plan for an aftermarket clutch upgrade.

What I saw in the thread was 2009s with the issue.

It's all years. My '13 with 4100 miles on it just had the clutch go to the floor and it wouldn't come back. I had it towed to the dealership and they flushed the system and installed the higher temperature GTR brake fluid. Now I've got a little intermittent grind going into 2nd gear before the engine and tranny warm up. Just every once in a while but I'm gonna take it back. Pedal feels OK but engagement is closer to the floor than it used to be and I shouldn't get grinding ever with the clutch fully disengaged. I think the CSC isn't moving forward as far as it should or there may be a little air in the system. They wouldn't change the CSC or CMC without doing the fluid flush first.

I'm in the midst of getting mine replaced at my local dealer right now. Covered under security plus from Nissan. May do the clutch at the same time depending on the condition of it. total cost so far is the $100 deductible.

I had three different dealers in the Austin area insist it wasn't covered under the powertrain warranty. It ended up being more hassle than it was worth. If they don't cover it, I would go somewhere else for the work. Go aftermarket and pick up the Z1 CSC Elimination Kit or the heavy duty CSC from ZSpeed or Specialty Z. The OEM CSC will just fail again.

Did you replace your clutch while you were at it by chance?

I was seriously considering it. But when looking at my clutch and pressure plate they both looked to be in great shape, no signs of it being ridden hard and plenty of meat left on the disc, so I let the dealer put it back in. Don't really have the extra bux for a new clutch kit at the moment. I can always put a new one in when the CSC fails again

No because I was only at 50K miles. We inspected the clutch, and it was in fine shape. I shouldn't have any problems getting 100K miles out of it. I'll probably have to replace my synchros before then anyway

The next time I remove the transmission, I will plan to have the funds ready for an aftermarket clutch (or a cheap, used, low mileage OEM one from the forum if it happens suddenly lol)

Alrighty thanks for the reply guys. Nissan's not going to cover it naturally. Going to try to limp it over to AwesomeZ here in Houston to replace it with ZSpeed's HD CSC and another CMC while I'm at it. Going to just leave the clutch alone after talking to Joe @ Zspeed as it's only a DD.
