Default nismo oil cooler covered under warranty?

Does anyone know if the Nismo oil cooler is covered under warranty? I know some nismo parts are R rated and some are S rated, with the R rated parts being for off road use only and not covered. Also does anyone think that this is a good fix for the oil temp issue. I've been holding off buying a 370z until this oil temp issue was resolved but if the nismo oil cooler can solver the issue I may just see if the dealer will throw it in as part of the deal. Should I just wait a few more weeks until Spearfish meets up with the regional member from Nissan N. America to see what Nissan has to say. Being that I live in Vegas where it gets 115+ on a regular basis in the summer I'm very leary to buy this car unless I know they oil temp won't be an issue. Thanks

The oil cooler being released by Nissan is not a Nismo unit. It's a Nissan Motorsport unit, and is not part of the regular warranty. I'm not sure the official specs of the unit have been released.

My Nissan Quality Control contact said that cooler will work in tandem with the warranty. All warranties would be upheld if it is installed at your dealer. No aftermarket shops would be allowed to install them. He made this clear as day to me. Hope that helps!

That's why you're paying $7-800 more than the actual hardware costs (aftermarket). Peace of mind isn't cheap..

Uhh.. that's not legal. They can't dictate who does the install, nor can they void your warranty for installing an aftermarket product.

If they prove failure based upon the installation of the part, or failure of the aftermarket part, that enables them to void a warranty claim, but not the entire warranty.

You should do some additional research on Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act.

Josh is right. Get the cooler you want and have it installed by whoever you want. If the dealer can't prove it caused the problem he has to cover it.

JUst had some questions about this oil cooler. Wondering if A) it effects ground clearance at all and B) does it involve any drilling of holes to install it and c) does it have a thermostat
