Great write up and review! I'd be looking at a 5.0 too right now if I could afford to get a new car. Mostly I just want to get a manual.

Nice write up.
The only thing i have to say is, it all comes down to personal taste. For me personally, even if the mustang is miles above and cheaper than the Z, i will still choose the Z over the mustang. Some people are heavily into performance and numbers, but for me, the Z offers me everything i need, especially when it is my DD. i chose the Z because of the size, looks, abd elegance of the Z. Not saying that the Z is a chick's car but i really like how the Z looks, and it is not as bulky as the mustang. Its kinda like comparing two artists, even though one is noticibly more skillful than the other, but i will still like the other cause of the style. I might see things different if i track the car, but i am very with the Z's performance for now. |

I wanted to get a 2013 Boss 302. The sales guy said that because I had a connection (my friend knows the owner of the dealership) he could get me the car at MSRP. He said that was a good deal because they normally sell for $5K over.
I said thanks and went and got my 2012 Nismo for $4K under MSRP. I still would like one, but no way am I paying MSRP for a Ford.

You should never pay MSRP for any car. That's just silly.

After driving another American made muscle car for a year (a 2011 Camaro SS), I'd be more interested in reading this review a year from now....when/if the shoddy build quality/materials issues start coming to light.

I've had mine since Sept '10 and haven't had any issues. Quality is at least as good as the 370Z IMO.

Literally, THAT day. I DID get $1,800 back on the 5 year extended warranty....used that to put a nice stereo system in the new Z. I won't own another American made car after that experience. |

They gave a Camaro convertible to Motor Trend to compare against a 5.0 'vert and... the top leaked.

I was worried about my steering wheel controls, thinking maybe they'd wear down and look crappy with continuous use but two years later it turned out to be a non issue. No rattles, no mechanical issues, no buttons falling off or electronics failing. And that's with a 2011. Any kinks will have been worked out in a 2013.

I looked hard at the GT before buying last winter. they could not find me a Trak pak 6 speed with the other options I wanted, they did offer me a smoking deal. I didn't want to wait to order one and my sub 9k mile Z came along for a lot less money and I got 1.99. no regrets, but I had a blast test driving the mustangs.
I do wish they would "do more" with the mustang interiors.... don't even get me started with the camaro interior. the Z interior was one of the biggest selling features for me, subjective I know.
