Had a little too much fun on Hellbender. Got distracted by my beautiful passenger... there was some grass... then a cliff.

After driving another American made muscle car for a year (a 2011 Camaro SS), I'd be more interested in reading this review a year from now....when/if the shoddy build quality/materials issues start coming to light.

The Mustang isn't a GM product.

I've had mine since Sept '10 and haven't had any issues. Quality is at least as good as the 370Z IMO.

What is the differance between the people who talk to you about your car if any. The GT is commonplace while the 370 is not, yet most see the 350 as the same car so it too can slide under the radar.

Enjoy the car.
Actually, the GT isn't that common. The dealer told me that virtually everyone wants the 6cyl. Mustangs in general, are much more common. I do get less, "wow what a cool car" comments. I have only gotten a couple. Interestingly, I have been reading some Mustang forums. Virtually all the track talk is about drag racing. I guess the sports car world hasn't discovered it yet.

No. I didn't order mine, so the one I have is standard GT suspension (damn good in my opinion) and standard brakes (not sure at all how they will do on the track. They are fine on the road). I would love the Brembos. I did add the Ford Racing performance pack. That is aftermarket.

I guess it depends on what forums you're on (there are lots). There is a lot of road track discussion on these cars. Lots of people are taking them to track days.

I said thanks and went and got my 2012 Nismo for $4K under MSRP.

I still would like one, but no way am I paying MSRP for a Ford.
I drove a Boss 302. It isn't noticeably faster than the GT. It had one problem that bothered me: the steering is way looser. I could turn the wheel at least an inch in either direction without changing the track of the car. When I told the salesman, he tested another boss and had the same experience. Odd.

I worry about that. So, I bought a 5 year bumper-to-bumper maintenance contract and warranty. If something breaks, it's Ford's problem.

I was worried about my steering wheel controls, thinking maybe they'd wear down and look crappy with continuous use but two years later it turned out to be a non issue. No rattles, no mechanical issues, no buttons falling off or electronics failing. And that's with a 2011. Any kinks will have been worked out in a 2013.

I looked hard at the GT before buying last winter. they could not find me a Trak pak 6 speed with the other options I wanted, they did offer me a smoking deal. I didn't want to wait to order one and my sub 9k mile Z came along for a lot less money and I got 1.99. no regrets, but I had a blast test driving the mustangs.

I do wish they would "do more" with the mustang interiors.... don't even get me started with the camaro interior. the Z interior was one of the biggest selling features for me, subjective I know.

I did the same thing...but grew tired of the "game" after 4 trips back to the dealer in a year for warranty work....2 for TPM CPU's....and 2 more for power steering issues that were never fixed properly. I traded the Camaro for the Z the day I drove away from the dealer the 2nd time with the power steering still whining.

Literally, THAT day.

I DID get $1,800 back on the 5 year extended warranty....used that to put a nice stereo system in the new Z.

I won't own another American made car after that experience.
