by Edmunds.com. Surprising result although there may have been variables that skewed the data. I'm surprised that's for sure. Mods please remove if this is a repost. Couldn't find anything with a search.

^^^+1

I guess there was much anticipation that this car would outperform the regular Z. It's not really doing it all that well with those numbers. But it is much nicer looking compare to the NISMO 350Z.

Maybe I have too much faith in Nissan on this one, but I just can't imagine that they would charge this much of a premium for the car, put a Nismo name on it and have it be no better. Maybe I'm being nieve, but I just have a feeling that when both cars are at the same track, on the same day, with the same driver, the Nismo HAS to come out a few seconds better at the very least. Being "More Stable" but no faster is unacceptable. Then again, I got a GT-R, was jealous of the Spec V when I heard about it, then after seeing all the Vid's, not so much anymore............

Wow. I wonder why the skidpad results were so different?! You would think the wider tires made it more sticky....

Although, I would like to see both on a track at the same time. For example, I find it VERY hard to believe the Spec V is not faster than the GTR. I am sure we will see the Z's and both GTRs compared more accurately soon.

I'm still suprised that we have seen the nur times for the spec v, I'm sure it's faster, but for 80k faster, it better be in the low 7:20's at least for it to seem worth it. Same with the 370 nismo, just on a different scale. I guess we wait and see at this point, and hope that it's not from edmunds.com either, no offense to anyone, but the VoiceOver guy sounds like he is calling a golf tournament half the time.

My point made to the last guy who insisted the Nismo is a track car and was surprisingly dissappointed by another review. It is simply a marketing tool for those who want to feel like they are getting a truer sports car while driving on their freeways and roads at home. Fancy body kit and some suspension tweaks do not make a track car!

I see the oil cooler folks from the forum have made their way over there to tell people that they won't be buying the car. I bet someone at Nissan got fired for putting the oil temp gauge on the Z.

i just don't understand how the exhaust and the tune didn't give the car that extra bump to atleast defeat the touring in straightline acceleration. Something is fishy.

I would still want the Nismo version simply bc of the bodykit and rims. I absolutely hate the front end of the regular Z and I think the rims suit the car and fill out the wheel wells very nicely. When all is said and done you'll be able to get the Nismo for 36-37k much like a loaded touring sport w/manual.

Most importantly to me is that I've never had a bodykit on a car, but I've seen horror stories about bad fitment, paint colors not matching and I would not want to deal with any of that. In other words this would be a great solution for me. I'd be paying 4-5k more than a base+sport which isn't too terrible, considering that a good paint job for any bodykit would be upwards of 1k, not to mention the bodykit itself would be upwards of 1k and then don't forget the nicer rims(2-3k with tires). In a way it would actually be justifiable.

i'd rather pick up a regular sport @ invoice and start tuning the car myself. Bumper is an easy replacement. I bet with the money spent to buy the nismo i can make my base run circles around it.
