Somehow I'm reminded of the NSFW shift knob that... semtex? had. Absorb vibrations, haha. From an actual standpoint, maybe you could dampen down the vibrations with a different shift knob.

From an actual standpoint, maybe you could dampen down the vibrations with a different shift knob. I do agree the Z knob is buzzy, but it feels nice because it changes as you add different amounts of throttle. But if the feedback from this short shifter is as bad as you say, I'd probably numb out my hand just driving around town...
