I parked my new Z (bought it last month) on the side of the street and got a note on the windshield saying that they accidentally scratched my back passenger

They left a name and phone number but I'm wondering... how the heck does one scratch the center area of a rim of a parked vehicle? It looks like it was done on purpose. I feel like they want to meet me up to rob me or something if I call them. What do I do?
