Gale are those aftermarket gauge faces?

dmhenderson 01-16-2013 09:46 PM

Seeing how one has "turbo" printed on it, I'm going to go with "yes"

Yes, not the best photo. Defi boost, oil pressure, oil temperature.

Here's a shot while the dash was out,

That looks really nice! Almost like OEM quality but much better than OEM.

Tribalpinoy91 01-17-2013 12:22 AM

Does look nice, hard to tell from a iphone screen what they were.

Received my GTR titanium tips from AAM yesterday and ordered a Motordyne m-370 manifold from Fred Bean this morning.

So what actually happens with this steering lock thing? Does the steering wheel just randomly completely lock up when your driving? Like could you be cruising down the highway at 80 mph and the steering wheel locks up? Am I safe since I have a 2012 z?

Joepro 01-17-2013 09:07 AM

planned my tax return/ spring mods:

Southbend clutch/flywheel
Zspeed CSC
oil cooler
Powder coating wheels as close to 40th color as possible
dyno tune as soon as winter is gone

It will not unlock the steering wheel, when you start your car the actuator unlocks the wheel, it will not unlock and you will be stranded because your wheel will not turn. I think most of the problems were 09-10s.

No, it only happens when you try to start your car. Once your car is started, it won't happen. Therefore it's not related to safty issue. But it will cost you a lot to fix if your waranty is out. 2012 should be fine.

Gave my assistant at work a ride to starbucks. He described the acceleration as "like a rollercoaster."

Did a drive-thru touchless car wash at the local Chevron since I haven't had any free time for a handwash. Put that bi+ch sidewayz pulling out of the driveway with wet tires  :yum:

If you find one, would you let me know. Ask this question in the Nor Cal Section.

Detailed the ish out of her and now shes sittin inside like a garage queen. :yum:

dmhenderson 01-17-2013 08:02 PM

I was about to buy those and someone said they have a tendency to bow the hood. Any truth to that?

I'm eyeballing those hood struts and a full set of those silicone hoses prior to show season.

xxAGAVExx 01-17-2013 09:00 PM

I heard that too, I asked a few people with the z1s and they said it didn't bow the hood. I guess we'll see.

Pintsize725 01-17-2013 09:01 PM

They Do Bow The Hood On The Driver's Side.

dmhenderson 01-17-2013 09:02 PM

Are there any other options that don't? That's disappointing.

Haboob 01-17-2013 09:56 PM

Replaced map lights, rear hatch light, and license plate lights with LEDs.

All I see are spots from looking into the lights.

ZForce 01-17-2013 11:45 PM

Hood Struts: Bowed on both of the previous 350Z's....took em off and sold them...Yeh they were not Z1 product. I would suggest buying the hatch struts and back the car in and show off your boom box in the hatch as an alternate choice/fix. Most who have the hood struts install them and do not even detail their engine bay, so what's the point, still looks like chit.

Headlamps next? no rear back up leds, now those look great on mine. Check out my garage or search for thread for pics.

This happened yesterday, but, I was cleaning a spot of bird s*it of the Z when the 5 year old came over and asked what happened to my red car (Eclipse).
I said I traded it in on this car. 5 year old said "WOW! You traded the red car for THIS? WOW" He doesn't quite understand what a trade in is yet.

Did you tell him you got a good deal because you got a car with avian poo on it and opted out of the car that didn't have bird sh*t on it?

Nah, I just wanted something to do since I'm not going to be getting any expensive mods for a while.

Gotta pay full price for a new cell phone, so there goes my idea of a new HU & speakers... though, I do have a birthday coming up, may get something for that.

Great story!

I get something similar when driving the bros Z (red ) to work when everyone knows I have a silver Z. Responses are either " I thought your car is silver or did you buy a new red Z"

I tell them" have you heard of the new cars that can park themselves? Well this is some new technoloy with some special paint that I can change the color with a button on my FOB. I also have a license plate that revolves to different plate numbers ". And my other car is an Aston Martin !!
