Installed my PW JDM knob today. PITA to swap out the oem knob. Strap wrench, visegrip, and muscle took about 20 minutes to break the knob loose from it's thread. No damage to the oem knob. I cut off and used the neck of a rainex spray bottle and stuck it on the shifter to flush the boot to the bottom of the JDM knob. Happy with the weighted steel knob and fits the palm of my hand perfectly. Now if only the rains would stop so I can clean her.

ZForce 12-27-2012 08:10 AM

^ Yup, that is the way to go, water bottle top is what most of us used. A tad of thread lock is in need. To be honest I did not think they were making the knob anymore, shux was hoping for it to become a collectors item. Glad you like it, and for the price it beat my $179 Nismo Titanium GT knob. Keep a golf club booty handy for them hot weather days, the knob sure does heat up in the sun.

After 20 minutes of trying to start my '09 because of the "dreaded steering lock" problem, and finally able to start it, I brought it right to a Nissan Dealer to get it fixed. Fun is............

What do you mean fixed? If you got it started, don't pay the dealer to replace it - just remove the fuse per the DIY thread below. The replacements are known to fail as well :shakes head:

I recommend it immediately (15 min tops) I just removed the fuse on my early model 2011 a few weeks ago.

My Nissan Dealer just called me with great news. The fix is under warranty so there will be no cost to me. Thank goodness! It was going to be a $1,500 fix! Why wasn't this a recall? Come on Nissan!!!!!

When you get your car back pull the fuse man! I wish I did. My replacement unit failed less than a year after.

Hmm, hopefully today I'll be legal. It's been a PITA trying to get my title and registration done.

Had two weeks to do it, they finally Fedexed it to the DMV the very last day. Went yesterday to the DMV and now they are throwing a fit, because a PO BOX doesn't match. Got that straightened and going today to see if I can stop bein' all illegal and stuff.

nmjaxx9 12-27-2012 03:03 PM

blackcherry20 12-27-2012 03:50 PM

:tup:mr. BC is off work today! I am hoping he installs my (spats) (mud guards)!
I am still a bit amazed that he went to all the trouble to order them and then have them painted to match (they aren't available stock in the bc color).:happydance:

dmhenderson 12-27-2012 05:24 PM

Bought a Tommy Kaira Hebi Bebi shift knob. Estimated delivery timeframe: 1-3 months.

I should have warned ya, I had the same run around when I bought my Z in Vegas. Don't know if you are also aware of the City tax you're gonna have to pay as well. I got a bill from the State three months after my purchase stating that I owed another $650 for City tax because I bought it out of State.

TK is apparently notorious for being slow to ship internationally - compounded by the fact that the JDM Salon auto show basically shuts down the entire country's auto industry for the next two weeks.

Hmm, I hope nothing like that happens. They told me that I had to use my city's tax rate and such, which was much higher than Vegas'.

I'm legal now though.

Why must tags cost so much in AZ? lol...

I wouldn't expect a return if they are wrong lol.

Cool, who did you go thru ? I have been sitting on the fence and you may have just kicked me in the right direction :tiphat:

dmhenderson 12-27-2012 08:17 PM

Bulletproof Automotive. $250 + actual domestic shipping (you don't pay between Japan and the states).

LONG lead time.

Let me know if you need a link.

ZForce 12-27-2012 11:30 PM

Props, I'll take two. Its the real deal from what I have heard and the feel is worth its weight in gold. I had seen these were going for that much and no one drops their price. Appreciate the contact, let me know if its true what they say about this shift knob.

Just boarding a flight to Cali to my covered and parked Z. She has been sitting abandoned and alone for weeks. I can hardly wait to goose her a bit. (Yes we are still talking about my car)

Thinking about taking her up to Lake Tahoe tonight. It will be our first snowy adventure if I do... Maybe ill take the 330i for more snow gear room (and clearance).

onzedge 12-28-2012 04:49 PM

Thanks to Chad from Colors on Parade for a nice repair on my rocker panel (I ramped it a while back.

Opened a comprehensive claim for paint, put her picture on my cap one card.

Yeh Chad has done work on my last 4 Z's, does great work. Sometimes he gets a lil sloppy, but always backs up his work. Looking at the pics, I would be checking the inner door seal (over spray ) and def being spending a weekend with the clay bar. Don't care how much he say's the spray will be isolated it's NOT. I had to clay bar both Z's entirely after a paint job.

Still the best for the price !! I will pass on your praise to him in the next few.... :tiphat:

Added: he is great with color matching. Did the Interlagos Fire on the 06 which is a maroon and rootbeer for those not familiar, with five different pearls. $900 for the front bumper from a high end brick and mortar shop. He did it for $250.

dmhenderson 12-28-2012 11:02 PM

Free ester oil change at the dealership (made them show me the empty bottles lol).
2nd of 8 - came with the car. Gave them sh*t for checking off "air filter ok" because I know damn well they didn't take the front end of the car off.

Technician said he had fun playing with it. Definitely broke some necks pulling in and out - no mean feat when the Nissan shop is next door to a Maserati dealership.

ZForce 12-28-2012 11:25 PM

I also get that check off list and really never gave it any thought to the air filter check off...Will have to get them some crap next time since I am running Injen CAI (way down in the front bumper).

dmhenderson 12-28-2012 11:26 PM

Yeah I have the Stillen G3. Roughly the same placement. Even funnier since it was installed at the dealership when I bought the car.
