While eating lunch update. Modern Nissan in Cornelius, NC took care of the guys lock failure for free and took real good care of my tpms problems. Talk to Brent, seems to be a decent fellow.

Did you get that guy to sign up on our forum? Gosh, I hope so!

Wow, I have been away a long time and I love coming back to find this thread still at the top of the forum!
What's up slackers? I have been spending a lot of time on my bike so I haven't even been lurking. Good news is that we will make ZDayZ this year so I will be getting the roadster cleaned ready to go over the next couple of months. Hope to catch up with some of you there!!! |
Dealership just agreed to pay for scratching the hell out of my powdered wheel. Whew.
Sort of a funny story. The dealership initially said "well you can't prove that the damage wasn't there when you brought the car in". My mechanic and the powder guy took one look at the wheel and said, "The only way you could get a damage pattern like that is if the car itself was stationary while the wheel was spinning rapidly. The only time I've ever seen anything like this is during a tire balancing" Dealership gets quiet at that point. 1 day later I get an email telling me that they're going to take care of me because I'm a good customer. Edit for sad pictures. How the heck can you screw up balancing a wheel o_O : http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/25/erezyhat.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/25/ugyry3a7.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/25/qumavezy.jpg |
Removed EVAP and installed Scan Gauge.

So, I roll up to Modern Nissan in Cornelius and start talking to the service manager about getting my tpms light inspected as well as a few other things: including changing my auto-off headlamps to 1 minute rather than 3. This flatbed pulls up with a 'fancy-real-murican' Z on it. I don't see anyone with the car, so I snap a pic. I imagined this pic could be used as ridicule-blackmail for any member here who owned the car. I'm talking with Brent, a service adviser, about my car when I blurt out, "it's a steering lock failure, isn't it?" "I don't know," he responds. Just then, something more magnificent than that bird on the Z comes into view: the owner. I've never felt more patriotic standing next to him. I inquire to the owner, "wouldn't start, huh?" "Yeah, the lights work and it unlocks the doors." "Steering lock failure." So, we sit in the waiting area and I go over the issue with him and state that if they try to charge him, an 81 year old Z driver, for a well-known issue, I will stand up for him. We talked about his stint in the Navy, mine in the Air Force. He turned out to be a REALLY cool guy. Imagine this, an 81 year old Z driver, who also power lifts weights at the YMCA on an almost daily basis. He's earned those flag-pants, for being that old, for his experience, for loving his Z every day. Just saying, IMO. |

 Besides, "Do you think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys?" Sorry, it's a YouTube kind of day. :p |

So, anyone found an older Z driver? My find: 81 with a birthday in 2 weeks. The guy served in Korea, on one of the last wood-deck aircraft carriers.
Drove a 2010 Roadster, 20000 miles, and a bird sticker on each door. |
