Got a screw in my left rear, not sure if it punched the tire though. Nice surprise before work :)
Going to the shop tomorrow |
Painting roll cage
So i finally decided that i needed to repaint my roll cage. I pulled off the trunk pieces to look at the welds and inspect the area and found some rust at the welds which had me concerned. Really i was lazy when it went in and decided to be cheap so i just used the good o'l rattle can.
Anyways, after a trip to OBI (German Home Depot) with my German friend to translate what was what, i found a good metal primer and a solid gloss white that's intended for kitchen appliances and such. On top of that i used some TCP global Metal Etch since i had heard some great things about it. Long story short...i stripped the bars back down and then used a 50grit sand paper to lightly scuff them...then used the etch. After that primer...and then the coats of white. As it stands now the second coat of white is drying and ill probably have to use a third to get it as thick as i want for protection. We are having a bit of a cold front here in Germany...temps dropped back to the 50s, so my solution to get it to dry faster is to turn the car on and crank the heat to 90 and let it run for 5-10min then turn it off and leave the car for an hour or so closed up. After that i repeat the process....again and again lol. http://www.the370z.com/members/mozen...-some-time.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/mozen...metal-etch.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/mozen...coat-white.jpg |
Wash, wax and Dr. ColorChipped :shakes head: yesterday.

Ordered a new set of tires finally. My other ones aren't worn out.......they just sucked lol. At least for my driving style but they have great wear! Decided to go with a 275/35/18 and a 295/35/18 on the BFGoodrich Rivals. Rears are to be released on the 20th though so I still need to wait a few weeks.

Serious balls to do that. I don't think I'd be brave enough. On the plus side, it can't be any worse than Nissan's paint.
We did a MAZOC vineyard tour and had a bunch of fun. The only downside was that I had to be the designated driver |

It peels right off! If I dont like it in 2 weeks I will do another color. I did 3 cans of light blue and about a 1/3 of a can of black.

Did a little more pre planning on some stuff for the nitrous kit for bottle mounting and now wiring plans have changed a bit as I just ordered a Odyssey PC680 battery for weight reduction and will be moving the battery to the trunk for a bit better balance. To finish off my final prep for Autocross for a bit, Project Mu HC+ brake pads and rear camber kits will be ordered Monday. Will have to tinker around with camber settings after I install the front and rear kits with the new tires to get a good balance. I'm gonna be a busy man the next couple of weeks lol. :happydance: |
Washed the Z this morning. Got it done before the heat kicks in. It's supposed to reach 103 degrees today.

Washed it and put it in the garage yesterday. Took it out and applied RaggTopp to the convertible top. It's so hot here I'll probably put it back in the garage when it dries. It's supposed to go to 108* for the next three days before it cools down to 106 later in the week. Yuck!

Cleaned her today, using no rinse wash, clay bar'd and sealed with Sonax Polymer Net Shield. This stuff is awesome!

Drove about 70 miles in the Z yesterday, was the most I have driven since I bought a daily over a month ago.
Drove out to a meet and bought a new front bumper for it which should be here next week then I will get it painted, standy for updates :) |
Headed out to NJ for Fresh Meet. Crazy cars, but the drive down was better :driving:
|
Bought a new wash bucket and surf city car wash stuff. Been eyeballing that sonax poly net shield stuff. Is it a post wax glaze or what? How is it applied?
