Put the GTR Map light Cover in last night....maybe a 2 min job at the tops!!! Completes the look of the interior along with the new touch screen and GTR Start button!! Nissan should have used these items in the Z from the start.....

What are you going to do with your OEM ones?

I'm thinking I want to try and tint my OEM ones, because the LED lighting is way too bright, but would like a back-up pair in case the tinting fails (looks bad).

Sh0velMan 06-24-2013 09:43 AM

Changed the oil...

It had been in there about a year, but only had 500 miles on it... Came out looking preeeetty gross.

Dealership called:

P2098 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim Bank 2 and they refuse to fix, because they think the O2 sensor wire was lengthened, when in reality it was not.

Not sure how the LED pods would look with these. Neat though. What do they cost?

axmea? 06-25-2013 01:41 AM

People think I'm nuts. Got out of the driveway at work onto the main street in reverse today........to avoid scraping......would not do it any other way. Sounds silly but it works.

The clear ones are $24 I believe.

I think I paid $15 for the LEDs for map light, trunk, and license plate.

However, I had to remove the license plate ones, as one of them kept flickering and eventually blew the taillight fuse.

dmhenderson 06-25-2013 09:40 AM

Yeah I have red lED pods in mine and have had the same issue (minus blown fuse) with the license plate bulbs.

After hitting 290 degree oil temps at COTA this weekend, I knew it was critical that I change my oil asap. Unfortunately, I was not smart enough to think about this ahead of time and schedule some time on Sunday for it. So I picked up 5 qts of Mobil 1 (5W-30) at Wal-Mart and a Mobil 1 oil filter (M1-108) from Pep Boys today at lunch and then took off early to get home and let the car cool so I could change the oil. Just got done and she's purring like a kitten

Is this the oil you normally use? How has it been for you as far as mileage and temperatures?

speedfreek 06-26-2013 11:48 AM

Just ordered filters and a lip. So checked a few things off the list of the progression towards Z Nats. It has started :excited:

Yes. Mileage, I change it every 5K miles. At <$40 per oil change, I'm not worried about extended oil change intervals, plus I enjoy doing the work myself. Temperatures are hot. Pretty much 220 everyday, everywhere, and I drive it hard enough this isn't uncommon even in the winter (not that we get much of one in Central TX). Long road trips at 80+ mph can hit 240+ during the summer. I'm hoping to get an oil cooler by the end of the year, but $500 for the Z1 25 row isn't in my budget right now with rotors and pads a few weeks ago and new tires in the near future. I'm going to get Joe at Dynotronics to adjust the fan control in my tune as well.

I know these engines are designed to run hot, but you gotta get an oil cooler. Nissan put a not-so-good one (lightly put), in the 2012+, I've upgraded mine to a 25row, now 200 is the most I get when driving hard here in LA.

binary0x01 06-26-2013 01:36 PM

To stay on the most general topic in the world of "what did you do with your Z today";

I took it to Specialty Z to have Seb change my oil and tighten the dreaded rear and front Whiteline sway-bar end-links because I can't be bothered!

EDIT:

Summer is heating up, and this car with the windows down is some ******* fun, I love the ****!

I have a 2011, so I didn't even get the crappy OEM one. Like I said, it's not in the budget right now. I wish I could, but she's been through two summers already with no issues. The Z used to be our out of town car because it was the newer and nicer car, but now that we have the Acura, we use it for most of our trips. Oil cooler for the Z is definitely in the cards. But if I want it before the end of the year, I'll probably have to ask for it for Christmas :icon17:

Drove it to work... It was HOT, bumpy and loud. And awesome.

And fix the statement since I put Noisy and Loud in there but forgot HOT.

TheW3r3W0lf 06-27-2013 11:13 PM

It's been too hot to do much with the Z but finally gave in and had a GTHaus Meisterschaft cat-back system installed today, did Z1 intake tubes, put in rear LED turn signals with resistors as well as installed SPC camber kits. I had a pile of parts waiting to go into the car! I was going to set up an appointment to have the tune updated for the exhaust but I am not so sure I can handle how insane it is! I have been reading threads to see if anyone had done just the axle back kit with better results but no dice. There may be a Meisterschaft kit for sale soon!

I watched them all and it's very hard to grasp the scale of how loud it really is from a youtube video!

onzedge 06-28-2013 12:41 PM

It's time to order my Stillen intake for the new Z.

synolimit 06-28-2013 05:55 PM
