you guys may not believe this but i swear it works.....

if there is enough tension on your gas cap door when you push the unlock on your fob the door will pop open. not wide open but it will release it's self....

I can confirm this! It does work. Although more of a tension for me bc now I'm always worrying if it's open or not lol

Now the old Nissan/Datsun used to talk. It would say the lights are on or key is in the ignition and other crap. Don't know why they don't today and that was back in the 80s.

That's because the latch (for opening and closing by hand) and the lock (from the lock status of the car's security system) are separate. The latch is a spring-loaded two-state latch, and the lock is just a slide-lock.

So, if the lock is locked and you go manually press the gas door it "opens" the latch, but the lock holds the door closed. Then when you hit the unlock the latch finishes springing open.
