Default 7AT, Paddle trick/feature I found...

I don't know if this is in the owner's manual or not, but I just found it out this morning... If you hold down one of the paddle's it will automatically put the car back into drive (if the shifter isn't in manual mode of course). So if you just want to down shift quickly for a pass and have it go back to drive, you can do that. I think you have to hold it down for about a second or so before it will switch back to D.

You can also do this to force it back into drive whenever you want. Say you down shifted, and then go back up to 7th, you can then hold it down so that it goes back into drive mode.

It's uses are probably pretty limited, but nonetheless I found it pretty cool.

I let my buddy that has an evo drive my car once a while back and he figured that out for me. I haven't used it at all though since I've gotten so used to being in manual mode all the time. Also just so you know if you're in auto mode and then down shift with the paddle you can hold it down to revert back to auto mode or after a short period of time it will automatically revert back to auto mode.

That's exactly what my post was about...

your first post did not make it clear that you were aware that it would automatically go back to D after a down shift which I was trying to clarify for you. Sorry for trying to help, I won't bother next time.

Flashburn-

Thanks for letting us know about this feature. I tried it on the way home from work today and it works great. Before I would grab the shift lever and push it in to manual and quickly back to drive to get the tranny to "time out" if you know what I mean. This is much better.

Yep, I would do the same before I found this out. Because the normal time-out when it automatically reverts back to D is slower than I'd like sometimes, this little trick is pretty nice for that.

I think raising babies would be easier if they came with manuals.
