soooo, I'm driving home from work Monday, following a truck/flatbed trailer with a zero turn mower on it. He obviously just filled up both tanks on it and left off both CAPS 'cause it's sloshing gas all over the dang place...the reason I noticed is because I could smell gas really strong and wondered where the heck it was coming from....voila-zero turn mower-full tanks-no caps. Needless to say I backed way the hell off...WTH?! Luckily he turned off right away.:shakes head:

Last night, Motorweek did a road test on the Scion version. I think they are nice cars for someone on a budget, but not a competitor to a Z.

Think Celica.

gasoline dries quickly and usually doesnt leave much other than light smell especially on paint. on the seals it can discolor it, but since you said it rained pretty hard, im sure it washed off. but yah, definitely wash and wax/sealant when you get a chance.

GL with your online school graduation!

Hey Z fellows

Haven't driven my Z in 4 days :(

Dropping my son off with wife's car (by wife's aunt to babysit) back home to switch cars to do 2hrs worth of errands in about 4 hrs :D

Also about to put down a deposit on 3piece forged wheels :o defintely most expensive mod to date...and I'm supposed to be in "debt repayment mode" but couldn't resist.

Hi Mr Kenchan :hello: I plan to have fun...Z withdrawl is rough

I was going to go with SSR as well...the SSR MSI professors but I am giving a company called ISS Forged a chance. Been good comments on them, they are stateside, 4 week wait...there is a thread about them in the wheels section.

Idk :ugh2: I did go out this morning and tighten the brackets at the throttle body on the passenger side. The ones around the cones are perfect - I think I realized exactly what you said about the softness when I installed them because they are snug but not too tight. On my way to lunch, I tested out some heavy braking in 2nd at 6500 RPM and no rattle. But it was a crazy enough sound yesterday that I'm not completely convinced that my 30 sec fix corrected whatever it was that caused the noise.

Very metallic... higher pitched for sure. Not quite sure why, but that makes me more wary than if it were a lower frequency sound. Are you thinking about something specific?

metallic, huh....hummm... well there's really nothing on the intake that would make a metallic noise unless the post-MAF tube is hitting something.

i removed the front strut bar when i installed my R2C long time ago, same with when i did the post-MAF tube. could the bar be loose?

I know, right... I did the same on my install, removing the strut tower brace. But I just checked it, and it's definitely not loose.

If something were loose I would have absolutely expected to hear that noise before, too. And I haven't. Oh well, I've made a note of it, and I'll be sure to immediately evaluate the situation if I hear it again. :shrugs:

so you checked the fasteners' torque including the one under the black trim near the windshield?

hummm.... battery tie down maybe?

Could it be a leak? Sometimes a small leak can make a little "whistle" that sounds kind of metallic.

Yeah, I figured that the strut tower brace was good because I did use my torque wrench on those bolts per the service manual recommendations (though now I cannot remember what they were). I'll check the battery tie down as well, but honestly, I haven't messed with it, so that would be an odd culprit. The heat shield was the first thing my co-worker suggested before admitting that he has no idea of the configuration and contents of our engine bay (he's a mustang guy ). I'll definitely look into that. Thanks!

So sorry to hear about your issues this past weekend, Christian. Hope things work out, man. :tiphat:

I don't think so... It was very pronounced and not a "whistle" or "whine" with a metallic twang.
