Morning guys!
Coffee'd up.
Loaded up.
Off to Scranton to teach a class in a salon there.

happytheman 07-16-2012 07:22 AM

Will America ever realize that McDonalds does NOT make coffee? They are merely serving dessert and calling it coffee. It's ridiculous.

Rolling the Z in 10 minutes. :)

Goodam everyone! :hello:

Morning All,

Took the Z on a 250 mile cruise this weekend with a couple fellow Z'ers. Good times were had by all but my female companion. :driving:

JAR - I'm heading back out to 1431 this coming Sunday if you want to tag along. I swear I'll use cruise control and granny it this time. I'm also planning on having a co-pilot. Heading back down to Lime Creek and then to Brickhouse Tavern for lunch. You in? Time frame would probably be about 10am - 4ish. Meeting for lunch around 2.

kenchan 07-16-2012 10:48 AM

hey any of you driven the cube? is it anywhere 'decent'?

ive seen a few rolling around in my area and it looks like a fun car but it also looks pretty stupid at the same time. im in the last phase of deciding which hatch to go with (will not be selling my G or Z btw). if i dont want to spend money on this pos dd, would a cube be a good candidate? something cheap in 18K range (new).

if i do spend some cash, it will be a new MS3 or GTI 5door. and i will be buying cash.

I'm definitely down for the cruising. My wife has her CPA exam the day before, so who knows what kind of condition we'll be in. I suspect she'll want to sleep in, but maybe I can convince her to ride along. If she doesn't come along, I'll probably skip out on Brickhouse, but honestly, we've wanting to check it out anyway. I'll check with her and be in touch. Work is still crazy, so I was just on this morning to spread some rep and send a PM.

Just let me know. Hopefully my co-pilot doesn't bail on me. I'm not planning on going all the way to marble falls, maybe halfway down 1431 so that we have time to hit lime creek. You can lead as I'll be granny driving it. :)

If your co-pilot and my wife don't make it out, we could ride together in mine if you like. I won't be granny driving unless you're following, and maybe it would give a better opportunity to do some video for folks who haven't been out that way. But of course, half the fun is just being behind the wheel, so I'm with you if you still want to drive yourself. :driving:

Hmm....let me think about it. Might need to take you up on it depending on funds.

Added up my ticket cost: $325 with change.

hahaha.

yah, i did motor both sat and sunday and got some footage. im testing out a new mic location for my tascam behind the passenger seat. it's got nice exhast note but im picking up a lot of road noise..especially the hammering from cement parting lines.

i also want to check out if gopro found a way to fix this minor repetitive static clicking i hear when external mic is connected. it's almost like a ground loop problem. :ugh2: the one i got last week was worse than the one i currently have.

xiven 07-16-2012 11:15 AM

Nothing today... Its sitting in the parking garage 200 miles away. :icon14:

Well I was going down a road I've not been on by myself. It was kind of curvy and had no median so I was focused on the road and not the speed limit signs. Got clocked doing 67 in a 45. Who puts a 45mph speed limit on less than a mile section of highway?! Can you say speed trap? Either way, I didn't know I was going that fast, I was looking down at my phone nav and looked up to see a cop.

Yes the Mic location on our cars is tough. My observation is windshield picks up wind noise, hatch area picks up road noise from wheel Wells. I wonder if mounting it externally by tail pipes is good idea? That may create too much noise though.

45 on highway? That is a speed trap.... :(

So you got 22 over and its 325, that's pricey I think mine for 27 over was $120. And I took driving safety course for an additional $90 so ticket would not go on my record.

Wow those prices are way less than you would pay here in california... I got a stop sign ticket and that was 385 + traffic school fees!

Contact an attorney who handles traffic court. It will be worth your time and effort.

kenchan 07-16-2012 11:40 AM

wow, pint, sorry to hear. :(

so far the best audio has been from the cupholder area using that saitech mount. :) very balanced between exhaust/low road noise, and music from stereo is very clean.

ive not tried the mic from the exhaust as i didnt feel like adding more problems such as rattles and wind noise.
