Ron nailed it a couple of times passing cars yesterday, but for the most part we tried to "behave'.

Thanks again for coming along yesterday and navigating Lime Creek Road. We had a great time. :tiphat:

I really wanted a copilot. I'm bad about seeing speed change signs since I'm so focused in the turns. Oh well, can't undo it now. :(

I had fun yesterday, thanks again for letting me tag along!

The cop's last name was "Boring". I doubt showing leg would have helped.

I think I'm going to learn advantages of RAW data vs JPEG. I've only been using jpeg. :)

GaleForce 07-15-2012 04:53 PM

RAW files must/need editing and have more available options for editing over jpeg. If you took two pictures at the same time of the same subject, straight from the camera, the jpeg will look better than the RAW because the camera adds its own ideals (contrast, saturation, etc) to the jpeg. If you don't have time for editing, or can get everything "right" (exposure, white balance, etc) from the start, then jpeg is fine.

LunaZ 07-15-2012 04:54 PM

Took it out to The Speakeasy for Sunday, Bloody Mary Sunday and then over to Asia Mall to pick up some ingredients for tomorrow's dinner.
Got rained on. It was a bit slippery on the concrete ramps, but fun nonetheless. Car showed its understeer side today.

onzedge 07-15-2012 04:54 PM

WOW! This is what, 1971? 72? It looks like Los Angeles with the Vincent Thomas bridge in the backbround.

RAW is so much easier to tweak than JPEG because you have a lot more parameters by which to fine tune adjust the photo.
It's not that you can't get it right in camera with a RAW picture, but every shot can benefit from a little nudge on the sliders for white balance, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, sharpness, etc...
I work in Adobe Lightroom with my before and after side by side. This way I can see my changes and also make sure that I'm not straying too far from the truth. Not that digitally altered pictures aren't an art form in and of themselves, but I like to try to stay faithful to what I saw unless I'm blatantly putting out something that's not supposed to look like reality.

Just had dinner with my wife at a new (to us) restaurant in Ponce Inlet. I had a calamari linguine with a spicy tomato based sauce. Let me tell you: the calamari was fresh, not fried, and plentiful. I would go so far as to say there was an equal portion of calamari to pasta! The tomato sauce was awesome too with whole plum tomatoes throughout! :yum:

We'll be going back!

Oh yeah, we went to the beach today too! :tup:

Ahhh, Thank you mr.gale. :hello: I think for the most part I can use jpeg. I read that white balance correction especially for indoor or night shots is one major benefit over jpeg.

Hey Luna. :hello: yah I think for those hard to edit situations raw appears to be the way to go. :tup: I think i will start taking raw + jpeg and have raw as backup just in case I run into a shot I can't get the color corrected in jpeg. :)

Changed the engine, tranny, and diff fluid today. All with Redline. The hardest part was getting the stupid cheap transfer pump to actually pump the fluid up into the diff and tranny. In the process I got to take a real good look at my bald rear tires. I knew they were ready to be replaced but damn they are about to have holes wear through them. New tires are needed yesterday. Have to decide if I want to just buy tires or get wheels and tires. Do I want to spend $ or do I want to spend $$$ for some :yum:

The last stage protection used is AF Passion. For the full details refer to my correction thread, http://www.the370z.com/detailing-was...ure-heavy.html

You can PM me with your desired results and I can help with product choice. There are many great products out there, you don't need to stick with Auto Finesse, although Auto Finesse is to me what Michelin PSS is to Mr.onzedge. :rofl2:

wow, nice work on that thread, mr.gale! :tup:

so i did some tests tonight on my DSLR using raw + jpeg (fine). basically wanted to simulate over exposure... typical issue i run into while taking picts of my silver car in the sun. used my digital piano keys and flash snapped at f/1.8 closeup. the white keys were all blended together due to over exposure, but the black keys looked great.

with RAW: i was able to recover the lines between the white keys without affecting the black keys. :tup:

with jpeg: i could not :ugh2:

i dont get many tries to take car picts (i dont have time to redo) so i think having raw files as backup will give me insurance just in case my shots are over exposed. :tup:

Tires = $
PSS = $$
Wheels = $$$

So you sugest that I spend $$$$$!!!!! I might end up that route but maybe just $$ on the PSS.

After doing the fluids and taking a brief break I did a quick waterless wash on her and put the 40th cover on as I can not drive until I get the tires/wheels situation fixed and I am leaving to Jamaica for a 8 day vacation on Tuesday anyway. Don't want her to get all dusty while I am out.

Blurgh!! :shakes head:

My garage door will not open completely. It stops 1/2way through.

I can manually open it and I don't feel excessive resistance at any point in the process, but with the opener it's a no go.
I've checked all the wheels, and none of them look to be even remotely binding..
I've checked the center track where the screw drive is....nothing..
I've checked the springs..nothing seems out of order.... :ugh2:

Don't know what to check now. :(

This was happening to me a while back as well. It turned out that the top edge of the garage door was touching the trigger sensor when it went past it rather than missing it and having the follower hit it like intended. I just had to provide some additional clearance....aka hit it with a hammer. Works great now.

happytheman 07-15-2012 11:41 PM

I'll check that! Thanks for the suggestion! I've got a rubber mallet with the garage doors' name writ all over it! :)
