Funny thing is, on the whole the show is actually pretty plausible, but this guy is a complete nut job. And his hair defies the laws of physics.

And just to vaguely stay on topic... I drove my Z to work today, as I do every day, and watched the jealous stares of many other commuters as I passed them. ;)

I know those "Top-XX" from auto magazine are always bias, but this time I am quite :wtf: with Road&Track!!

Top 20 convertable.... they can include 2 mustangs, but not a ZR, they even put a MINI Cabrio as a Top Hot 20 but not a ZR.... and I can't beleive a Volvo C70 Cabrio will kick the ZR out of the 20.... :shakes head:

Meh.... put me as the 21st R&T, I am very HOT now!!!! :shakes head:

Road and Track often misses the mark. They gush over unaffordable cars and anything Porsche/BMW makes, yet overlook Nissans in general, it seems. I have no idea why I continue to subscribe.

kenchan 05-07-2012 05:51 PM

hey mr. alcheng, dont worry. that's only an opinion from one or a few persons at a publication. only magazine spec racers get biased by these opinions (magazines and videos) and say dumb things as if they know anything about owning a special car. lol :icon17:

So now Im feeling like I need to purchase some front tires for ZDAYZ. Im currently running a 245 on a 9" wheel up front. Id like to go bigger in the front but arent sure how much bigger I can go. I think a 265 would be much to wide, correct?? Could I get away with a 255 on a 9" wheel?? 255mm converts to just about 10", doesnt seem like it would look right, or am I wrong??? Im trying to make the purchase tonight so quick replies will be greatly appreciated, and repped:tiphat:

:iagree: Although R&T is the one I read the most between R&T, C&D and MotorTrend. I also found R&T always bias to bimmer and honda. But some of their columns are worth to read.

Go ahead Alchemy, shouldn't ruin the Zdays by a pair of stupid rubber!!

Alchemy 05-07-2012 07:03 PM

Im a Motor Trend guy myself. My dad had been subscribed to it since before I was born. It was in my house my whole life growing up. Ive been reading it forever.

Pintsize725 05-07-2012 07:42 PM

Hmmm the OFC must already be in bed. So quiet in here.

You can run a 255/40 on a 9" wheel, but that's the widest that's recommended.
I wanted to run a 255/40 285/35 but it just didn't pan out for me. :)

So I would ask you guys to talk me out of buying mods, but I'm sure you'll just encourage it. So, what do you recommend I get with a $1100 budget? I still haven't decided if I'm spending it yet but would appreciate some suggestions.

happytheman 05-07-2012 07:54 PM

Awwwww yeah! First question: go fast, cosmetic or combo of both? Oh yeah, you're absolutely right...I'm definitely going to encourage it! :)

Yeah we are the wrong people to ask Tracie:icon17: With 1100 I would either buy intakes and tune it since you have the exhaust already OR buy some Swift Springs and sway bars. I take it the 1100 budget also includes installation costs since you wont be doing the work yourself?? If its 1100 for parts then you could do springs, sways and an intake:tup: Wont see me making any cosmetic recommendations. Im performance all the way:tup:

LOL… :bowrofl: Ms.Pintsiz725, you miss the Old Fart, do you, eh? :icon17:

For $1100, you can do intake, HU, rear fog light, illuminate kick-plate, tints… or save it to your Amuse Big A$$ funds. I forgot, does your Z has spoiler? How about custom plate ”traciz" or "trazie"? And use the rest of the changes to become a premium member here so you will have the 35hp-stickers

No, you guys are the RIGHT people to ask. Recommendations on an intake?

Like I said, I'm still on the fence about it, but would love to know how far I could stretch the $ if i decided to.

Fire 05-07-2012 08:25 PM

Hi guys just posted my car in 370Z for sale. I'm selling it so that I might get a ZL1 faster. The dealers just won't give me what this car is worth. Ultimately if ZL1 falls through and I don't sell the Z a SC is in my future. Whooop whoop.

Oh yeah, I've got the 35hp stickers, just haven't applied them yet. :p

Not interested in fog light and already have illuminated kick plates. Need a spoiler though! Wtf is hu? I'm a noob remember. :)

I would say Stillen Gen 3. Other options are the Injen or the new Tadeka intake. All run about the same price, around 500ish. Also keep an eye out in the classifieds for a good deal like you did with your F.I. Intakes can be found in the want ads pretty easy:tup: If you really wanna step up the handling Swift springs and Stillen sway bars will only set you back about $600 all together and they make a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!!! Prob the best mods for the $$$

How about....Stillen Gen III, H&R spacers annnnnnnnd Swift springs? That's about $1100. Of course that's just off the cuff. If you buy used, you can stretch a buck even further! :)
