lol, don't worry. People who shave you don't read your posts on this website, and therefore have no reason to want to murder you.

Hi guys. Just got back from Cruise Night. Some nice cars. A couple pro-street types with bigblocks and small front tires. I'd hate to see how bad they handle. A few ratrods. One 350Z that needed washed, had poorly tinted windows and an intake.

Hmm, you should be afeared. I'm currently working on plans to build a false shoulder directly over a steep drop for zdayz next year. I'll even let you lead so I can get your demise on GoPro!

( Click to show/hide )
oh dang, the cats outta the bag now. I'm going to have to come up with something else.

While I was in the big city I went to my chiropractor. He was able to squeeze me in and have a look at my back. Apparently two of my ribs had popped out. I'm all fixed up now. A little sore, but doing better.

I might start removing body panels tonight after Mini GaleForce goes to sleep. We'll see.

Very nice! Can't wait to see the finished product!:excited:

Good to know. I'm about 4 hours from Ottawa. I dropped the idea because I didnt think i could find the right kind of talent. I'll do some more research on my end here. If its something worth moving forward with I will definitely get in contact with you.

GM just announced they are closing the line that my wife works on. Impala, Equinox. No word on the Camaro line (both lines are within the same buildings)

Nope, 2000 jobs gone. They had 12000 hourly employees just 5 years ago, now down to 4000 hourly. That number will be halfed again by May next year. They are eliminating the 3rd shift this Ocober, 2nd shift will be eliminated in Feburary, nd the final shift will be finished in May 2013.

This is/was GM's most productive, highest quality, production plant in the world.

Fire 05-31-2012 11:59 PM

That sux Gale. Does she have any plans?

Fire 06-01-2012 12:31 AM

Night guys. Hope things work out for you Gale. NightZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz

GaleForce 06-01-2012 12:33 AM

Nothing yet. She'll likely ride it out, she where se ends up once he dust settles. It's a contract year, maybe the union will fight for some kind of compensation, or retraining.

I just laugh when GM passes out the kook-aide preaching about productivity and quality only to close the plants that have the best record. They did that with the truck plant in Oshawa a few years ago. It was their most productive, highest quality, truck plant in all of GM. Go figure. :shakes head:

Time to gt some shut eye. Night all :tiphat:

Oh, things will work out. We've been going through this for the last 5 or so years. It the auto industry, this stuff happens. I just find humor in the corporate propaganda.... Quality, productivity, cost saving, concessions will save jobs... Blah, blah, blah. Then they close the plants that do everything right. They have more white shirts walking around that plant than people building cars.

You guys in the US have been hit hard with the Auto manufacturing cuts too, so you are well aware of the situation.

This sums it up nicely, I got it from Toyota vs. GM: The Rowers | LogiPundit

A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (GM)
decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams
practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before
the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by an entire mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to
investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team
made up of senior management was formed to investigate and
recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person
steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person
rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a
consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a
second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat,
while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent
another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team’s management structure
was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents, and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the
1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called
the ‘Rowing Team Quality First Program,’ with meetings, dinners, and
free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles,
canoes, and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by TWO miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor
performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved
was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year’s
racing team was out-sourced to India .

Sadly………….. The End.

Yep, sad but not totally unexpected. They sat on their hands for too long and let the tech pass them by. They didn't react to the trends fast enough now they're paying the price. Time to hire more management. :rofl2:

I used to work down the road from RIM. I made a lot of money from the people working at RIM back in the early start-up days (10-12 years ago). Hopefully they can get the ship turned around and get back on course.

Now watch the government hike taxes to compensate for all the lost revenue. :rofl2:
