Yeah, I am usually pretty good about it but for some reason was off last night ugh...

In other light

My car looks weak, i have a Sport wheel upfront with the rest still being HRE's man, that thing sits so.... :shakes head:

I'm counting down the hours until I have the exhaust installed tomorrow! Is it 8am yet?

Been super busy at work, but cut out early today (after only 60 hours this week! ) to do a good wash and wax before Zinco de Mayo tomorrow! Got a group meet set-up with some friends, so looking forward to a good time. Mrs. gurney will be making a rare Z meet appearance, so don't be surprised if the Earth stops rotating on its axis for a few hours tomorrow.

Carry on gentlemen and ms. Pintsize! :tiphat:

Ease on to the A-8, oil warming nicely and accelerate
Some fast cars out here heading to Munich
Accelerate more now East bound up to 225kmph(140mph) and follow a new SL

Life is good!

Add a weeks journey to Germany if you havent done so and experience this. Ive been here for years now and its completely amazing to me each time to motor in this manner. Free and with speed sharing the road with like minded and capable cars and drivers.

Time for a nice cocktail and a good movie. It will rain tomorrow. However we certainly drove the Z today!

Wish all of you the best for the weekend of course! :driving:

:worship:

Wishing I was there! :)

Well, I loaded up the good stuff and took em to the local Tire Kingdom tonight. I asked the front desk personnel if they had time to mount 'em up for me. She went outside, conferred with her manager and came back with a "not tonight, because we've only got the new guy working and don't want to risk him touching those wheels!"

I appreciated their candor and told them I'd be back.

**NOOB QUESTION ALERT**

I am aware that this is the wrong part of the forum but I trust you guys to not make too much fun of me. :)

Ok, my Z is the only car I've actually decided to try to do my own (within easy reason) maintenance on. Did the first oil change this past weekend and when we checked the level, it was a bit low so we added just a teeny tiny bit more. I checked it today at work after letting the car sit for 2 hours. It was well over the high line (a bit higher than where the picture shows). Decided to let it sit until I was out and checked it again. Below is the result. Since I'm not set up at home yet to drain a bit, would it be fine to just let it sit until the next change? Is this even something to worry about? Sorry for the noob questions!

( Click to show/hide )

alcheng 05-04-2012 08:35 PM

hey Ms.Pintsize725, I don't do my oil change but by looking at the dip stick, I'll suggest you drain some when you got home, but you know to let the Z sit for 2 hours first..

kenchan 05-04-2012 09:14 PM

pintsize- check the oil in the morning BEFORE starting the car. :)

pull up dipstick. wipe off tip with clean paper towel. dip the stick into the engine (dipstick tube) and count to 5. then pull out just enough so you can see the LOW and HIGH indicators, no need to pull all the way out. it should be near the HIGH indicator but not over.

if you put too much oil in, you can use either an extractor to suction oil out of the dipstick tube, or the messy way is to loosen the oil filter (dont pull it out) and let the oil drip out from the bottom. do not try to let oil out from the plug unless you have a fumoto valve where you can stop mid stream. like taking a pee, once you let go, it's hard to stop. :icon17: haha

kenchan 05-04-2012 09:16 PM

btw, if you're like me and only drive the car on the weekend, i can just pull up the dipstick and get a clean reading without wiping with paper towel. :D

Thanks guys for the answers and not giving me a hard time. If the reading is the same in the morning, I'll probably just ask the techs to handle it when I take it in for the install.
