I'd actually suggest starting the Konis at full soft and working from there. They really aren't soft at full soft, but they get pretty darn stiff when you crank them up. IMO it's easier to start there and figure out how much stiffer (if any) you want it instead of thinking about whether you should crank it down or crank it up.

That's just me, though.

:iagree: I started in the middle in rear and a bit stiffer in the front and they are STIFF at this setting. I had to dial them back.

:tiphat:

I run 1.5 turns up front and 1 turn in the rear. The absolute MOST I will run on the street is 2 up front and 1.5 out back. More is just too stiff unless I'm on perfectly smooth roads.

On a long trip I'll crank them down and run at full soft for comfort. Even at full soft the Konis will perform better than stock.

Anyone looking for a helper in their auto body shop? I am available....real cheap..

I thought of this when you mentioned this unfortunate chain of events! :rofl2:

I believe this is about where im at. Im at about 1 1\4 turn up front and actually about the same on the rear. Itll take some dialing in but adjustment is easy! Now I just gotta get these brakes bled properly.

I still think it's a good idea to start out at full soft and work your way up instead of guessing a starting point, then trying to figure out if you want to go up or down. :p

Plus, you get the "wow, even at full soft these dampers are 10x better than stock" effect.

I got distracted at Pardee's Camera today and ended up leaving with this:

Canon U.S.A. : Professional Imaging Products : EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM

I have a 17-35/f2.8, it works very good with the film camera, but I find after the 1.5x with the DSLR, it is not quite wide enough.

Mr.onzedge, looking forward to hear reviews from you.

16-35, 2.8
70-200, 2.8

100-400 -- this is here only beacause I got an incredible deal. It is a highly impractical lens as it is very heavy and hard to hold steady over time w/o a monopod.

I have the Tokina 11-16/f2.8, not an expensive lens but the wide angle range is the only on the market, a bit noisy cos it doesn't have motor.

Maybe add it on your next "distracted list"??? :tiphat:

Maybe I'll check it out. I am kind of a Canon-only guy, but who knows.

I will rep you when my repping is restored tomorrow.

I agree, that is the only non-nikon lenses I have, cos they don't have 11-16/f2.8 ;)

This is one of the pics I shoot when I was in Mexico using it at 11mm with polarized filter

dAvenue 04-15-2012 07:36 AM

Good morning guys.

I'm at the dealership for an A/C problem. While carving through canyons yesterday near San Antonio with a large group of Z's, something happened to the A/C. I found the issue after the group stopped for a quick cool-down and I noticed a green liquid pooled on top of the front lip. My guess is either a rock punctured it, or a hose, or a hose popped off during the run. Hopefully, the damage isn't extensive. Fingers crossed.

Also, I wanted to thank the guys who left the group to search for me after I lagged so far behind that I disappeared. I don't know your screen names, but I've seen your Z's before. Thank you so much for the encouragement and your help. Good dudes.

Fire 04-15-2012 07:51 AM

Morning guys. :hello: Sorry to hear about the damage d. Hope it is something simple and covered under warranty. To address the camera posts I have a HP Photosmart E317 5.9 Megapixels point and shoot. Do hope to get a Go pro motorsports edition. I do have a question for those f you who know go-pro. I plan to track my ZL1 2-3 times a year and run the Tail of Dragon next year. Should I go with the Hero or Hero2. I'm not much of a photo geek and don't know alot about filming or taking pics with it.:pics:

If you can afford the difference, go with the Hero 2. It's better in every way.

Fire 04-15-2012 07:57 AM

It's only 240 vs 300 so no big deal, I just don't want to spend extra for something I may not use to it's extra benefits.

Ouch Mr. dAvenue!! Sounds like a great day gone wrong. Hopefully you get her fixed with minimal costs. Good luck.

Alcheng, very nice pic:tup: My GF wants to go to Mexico to see the Mayan ruins and what not SO bad. What/where exactally was that pic taken?

I myself will be going outside to re-bleed my brake lines around 10:00.

Well, if better image quality is important to you for stills and video, then the Hero 2 is for you. Check out the GoPro website, you can do a comparison and see side by side the differences. I am looking to get one, I decided on the Hero 2 because of the better quality video. That's a feature you'll use every time you use the GoPro so the extra cost is well worth it in my eyes.

Fire 04-15-2012 08:21 AM

Looks like I will go with the gopro hero 2.

I haven't looked that far into it. Maybe someone else can chime in about their mic setup.

Fire 04-15-2012 08:31 AM

I do see an input so maybe it would take a generic mic. just have to be sure it is compatible.

GaleForce 04-15-2012 08:37 AM

Yeh maybe one like this http://www.sennheiser.ca/live/senn/produit/en/1238/163 I use this when shooting video on my Canon 7D.
