NTB has a great deal for like $200 (I think) you get 5 years worth of alignments - it is even transferable to one other vehicle during that period. They have 1 year and 3 year packages, too, but I have always gone for the 5 year since it's not too much more expensive. No limit on how many times you bring the car in, so if there's one around you, I would definitely recommend it.

Sounds great, thanks for the heads up! Do you know if wheel balance is included when purchasing from Discount Tire? I'm too lazy to call. :p

I believe it is, but I never bother to speak to them about it. Whether they do it or not, I always head to NTB immediately after getting new tires

Fire 05-16-2012 11:39 AM

Congrats alchemy. Glad nobody was hurt and the car not damaged. Stay safe but have a great time. No shop around here like that. Sounds really good if you get coilovers, you can adjust freq. and ensure that your in alignment.

Fire 05-16-2012 11:50 AM

OK guys off to buff out those marks on the trunk lid. Scary for me as I'm not used to polishers.:ugh2:

Good Morning Everyone!!!! :hello:

Thanks everyone :tiphat:

The job is in my trade and then some, but here's the rub, the pay is a lot less than expected, and the hours are mediocre. The good thing is travel time is next to nothing, and the work, like already mentioned, is in my field of expertise. It's not the end of the world if I decline the offer, I do have something else I can do, it's not in my field, but the pay is :yum: , but the commute is 40 min one way  ...

This is the problem right now, there is a shortage of qualified skilled trades (especially good ones). Everyone needs one, but aren't willing to pay for the experience. Then they are left scratching their heads when they're losing production because of incompetence, or wondering why they have high turn over. :shakes head:

Bottom line, my experience is worth more than they're paying.

mr. gale- hello! :hello: sorry to hear about the pay. is there a timeline when you can get a raise after 'proving' yourself to the company that you are a valuable asset? hope things work out for you. being close to home and little to no travel is a great plus when you have little kids.

i use to travel a lot for business, but since having kids ive cut down about 99%. lol. when my kids are older i might decide to travel more again. at the moment im too busy with picking up the kids, etc since my wife works too. she really doesnt need to work as i can support the family on my own, but she's a very smart girl and likes working, so why not? she hates house chores anyway... :ugh2: (i get to do that :icon14: :wtf2: )

:tup: hahaha!! im not much of a watch person, but my Orient watch couldn't keep time very well after a fall...so decided to go Seiko this time. so far so good. :p yah, we can PDR people's cars, install suspension kits, exhaust/intake mods, do dressup aero kits, detailing, etc while we drink dietpepsi, and make some cash... and when we're bored, we can go kick the sob's arse for more yelling. :stirthepot: hahaha.

Fire 05-16-2012 01:13 PM

Hi guys. Feeling really great right now. I owe it all to the people on this forum. I'm a pretty good mechanic. I was a Jet Mech in the Marines and have done some work on cars. Everything from changing engines (even with different car companies providing the replacement engine) to complete suspension mods. I'm pretty sure I could install either a Stillen or GTM SC. Would need help with the tuning. Now to what has made me soo happy. Ever since coming to the forum I've been doing things outside my comfort zone. Body mods and detailing actually scare me. Drilling into the alum. trunk of a perfectly good sports car isn't something I'm used to. Today I buffed out some areas on the trunk that have bothered me for 2 years. 3 years ago I wouldn't have bought a DA( yes it is a random Kensan) and tried to do it. It was much easier than I expected. Tomorrow I'm doing a 3 step detail of the paint. 1st I'm using a Turtle wax scratch remover, then going to a Maguires Gold wax, and finally an ultimate shine with detail spray and the detail pad of the DA. I'm hoping for a great finish on my car. I'm doing everything short of claying it. The confidence I go into this task is all thanks to the encouragement of the GREAT people here. Thanks again guys(and gals). :worship::vuvuzela::woot:

onzedge 05-16-2012 01:16 PM

^^^ I am definitely feeling that "group hug" thing coming on right now.

I agree with Mr. Fire. The people on the forum (who I haven't put on my ignore list) are great folks.
