It's stuff like that is the reason why it's really expensive buying insurance in California as a young kid. You don't hear it all the time, but I do pay attention to the local news and such news with age group appears more often publicly. (Maybe there's more in other age groups, but who knows).
When I was 18, I had a 1985 Toyota Celica GT-S. Car was valued $800. My insurance cost nearly $2400 a year on just liability.
