$4000 insurance per year ... Why so expensive?

Greetings Z community:tiphat:

Some questions regarding on the insurance of my Z.
I live in vancouver B.C. Canada. and my insurance is 4030CA dollars a year ! when I saw some of you guys down states only have 1000 or even less per year insurance im so comfused

I brought my 09 Z for 25,000CA mid 2011.
It is an accident car which i would assume it has less value? It is a U.S. car though. the accident is nothing too major. fender.headlight. bumper.

Eventhough I dont get any discount being young driver but my parent has big discounts still could cause them 3050CA to insure it.:shakes head:

could some one give me some ideas to justify this?
4000dollar insurance seems expansive for a 25000 bought car!

Thanks in davance

but seriously.. that sounds insane. I am not sure how the rates work in Canada since it seems like everything is more expensive.. But I am only in my low 20s.. two cars, I do own a house and my Z is under 900 a year to insure full coverage. 100/300/100

Same here, my Z and my wife's civic is about $1200 a year, no tickets since 2003, good credit, and I'm 29, so that brings it down some. If you have a lot of tickets and you're a young kid that could explain it. My little brother has had a few tickets, and just wrapped his Focus around a pole, and he's 17. He's paying about $4000 a year now lol.

Probably because your name is Elric, I wouldn't insure you either.

ICBC charges what they want.... no competition. Alberta is a little better. I pay $1000 a year for a 2010 with full coverage. No tickets or accidents and 25 years of good driving!

.... my son however pays $13,000 a year to drive a Dodge 1500..... :shakes head:
don't ask...

Because you are, presumably, a young male. Statistically you are most likely to get into a wreck. Full of testosterone with a powerful car and no experience of how to handle it.

TerribleONE 03-27-2012 01:03 PM

While I agree with this statement. Being young doesnt always mean less experience... I have already logged well over 100,000 miles being only 20.. Done off road racing, track days in my G, on my GSXR 1000. and done some driving schools... I think I could teach some older folks a thing or two actually!

I have dealt with extremely high insurance during the stage of my life when I was racking up speeding tickets like they were gold coins in Mario kart. Paid around that amount with my Evo. I got quotes from several companies as well. No accidents for me though.
(I get full coverage and a **** load of lawsuit insurance, don't want to get f'ed over by someone getting whiplash in a parking lot or something like that)

insurance prices factor in age, time you have been driving, any arrests, any DUI's, any accidents exc... not sure why yours is so high, is that 4k a year? holy crap

im paying $877 a year for full or maxium coverage. (travelers insurance) although i have no tickets, arrests, Wrecks or DUI's on my record

they told me the Z isnt considered a sports car because it doesnt have a turbo in it, they said if it had a turbo, oh yea the insrurance would sky rocket but mine didnt. so it went up and then 3 months later dropped 300 bucks to 877
