On my two-month-old 2011, whenever I twist the fan speed dial to AUTO, the A/C light always comes on automatically. It doesn't seem to matter what the exterior temperature is (I've experienced 15F-70F so far) or where I've set the desired interior temp (usually around 70), the A/C light illuminates. If I wanted AUTO with no A/C, I'd have to manually tap the A/C button to disable it. AFAIK, this is the normal & expected behavior. The Z is my first Nissan, but other cars I've owned with fully-automatic climate control systems (a Saab, couple of Audis, and a Subaru) have behaved this same way. When you command 'Auto', the car uses A/C unless you manually override it; for cooling in the summer, and for drying & anti-fogging in the winter. Last edited by Augustus; 03-09-2012 at 09:55 AM. |
