In for results! I wonder how well that setup keeps heat from getting sucked into the manifold?

OUCH!!!!!!

Hope it isnt too bad. Good luck getting her fixed. I have had mine in the shop twice for body work so I know the feeling. A hail storm dimpled the whole car, smashed the spoiler and taillight all before the first oil change:shakes head: Then last summer I hit a deer. To be expected where I live, they are EVERYWHERE!!!!! Its the first deer I hit (in my 370) but I fear it wont be the last. I loathe deer.

Oh, and HI everyone:tiphat: Its winter and while my Z is hibernating I sorta am as well. Havent been around/posting as much.

ONZEDGE, every get those Koni's on????

Good morning Mr.happytheman!!

I had a similar CAI done on my BMW before, the type using heat shield, and it actually works quite well, the height of the shield with the rubber sealing slightly pressing against the hood, so only outside air direct from the duct goes to the intake.

The delivery will take 7 - 10 days, I am looking forward to it.

Nice. That's pretty much the same as my MBP. Dual 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM, 250GB HDD and 13.3 display. It's just an awesome notebook as you are well aware.

I took it apart yesterday and found corrosion on the logic board (pic attached). The good news is that I can replace it. The bad news is that a new board will cost $500-700. The price seemed high but when I factored in the dual CPU's and new GPU that's included with it, the price actually seemed kind of fair. The wife has given me her blessing to order it but I honestly feel bad after installing the Koni's ~2 weeks ago.

Good morning all. :tiphat:

happytheman 02-13-2012 11:30 AM

Yah, in my experience MB replacements in laptops are pretty straightforward. It shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes tops. Good luck! :)

ahh, i opened mine up twice to increase ram and also to add the 2nd HD. i luv my mbp, it's been really great. yep, for $700 i would just get a new one and keep that one for spare parts if you can clean the other bits and salvage them. :)

The car can be fixed, just hope you are okay.

kenchan 02-13-2012 01:00 PM

karotz- get Bridgestone S04's. they stick very well in the wet.

alcheng 02-13-2012 01:09 PM

Why not Continental ExtremeContact?? Very good especially for DD

onzedge 02-13-2012 01:11 PM

Michelin Pilot Super Sports -- excellent all around...

DW's are good, but S04's are better in the wet. i use S04's on my G in the summer. very good, but heavy.

Maybe that's why it doesn't get hydroplaning as easy as the lighter tires.

Good afternoon Mr.kenchan, Mr.onzedge :hello:

Good afternoon Mr.kenchan, Mr.onzedge :hello:

hello, mr.alcheng  hahaha, that's funny but no. it's their water channeling technology called Uni-T. very effective.

ive driven my Z through pouring rain (i mean visibility was very bad) to test my DW's. they did very well, just not as good as S04's.

That's good to know, cos I have to decide which tires to match with the 19 wheels that I ordered, treadwear is also a factor cos the Z is my DD in summer and I drove about 100km(60miles) more or less per day.

BTW, tracking number for the CAI has been issued. YEA!!!!

SPOHN 02-13-2012 02:57 PM

My harnesses just came in. Going to get them tomorrow at Forged Performance

DW's will do fine, i think. :) especially for dd use it will be more than enough imho. i do some spirited driving and ive not felt unsafe on those yet. very predictable limit too.

if we lived closer i would've sold you my barely used set so that i can try out those super-sports, actually. hahaha. :D meet up at tirerack, i buy new tires, you get my barely used set wrapped on new wheels. lol oh well.

Just dried off the Z and did a QD wipedown, why does it have to rain after every time I wash the car! Trying to keep it clean before I take the GF out tomorrow.
