Oh yah, forgot in the ensuing pandemonium that this thread creates I forgot to mention that I picked up a set of the RainX Latitude wipers for the Z and replaced the tail light bulbs in the Xterra.

Srenity 02-07-2012 10:22 PM

I re-installed my Mikey Mouse trim piece (now Black) and in the process installed a new spacer device between my TWM short shifter and PWDJDM shift knob to keep the boot from sagging. I will get pics up later. I like the look a lot better personally.

Well in my "stored Z" withdrawl phase I followed Bumblez DIY on painting your key FOB, but I took it a step further and wrapped it in real 2x2 twill Carbon Fiber...wasn't easy but I think its coming out good...not quite finished.

Oh and I got to visit my car today (stored at friends house) so I got some good sitting in the drivers seat time

So this is just the test fit...might need another wet sanding then polishing, then done :)

Looking really good. Not sure if you have any CF interior trim or not but this would be a nice touch for those that do.

Srenity 02-07-2012 11:13 PM

Pics of the interior trim piece as promised above.

martin82 02-08-2012 03:27 AM

just removed my sports wing to get ready to install my Seibon NSM CF wing. I don't have a template, does anyone have one?
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...88232187_n.jpg

happytheman 02-08-2012 06:27 AM

Did you reach out to Seibon to see if they could send you one? I'm guessing you picked up the wing from another community member. I'm sure that they would be happy to help!

The last thing they want is one of their wings to look bad!

Thanks guys, I'd say a large part is waiting for the resin to dry, which is overnight, so 2 days right there (did 2 coats before sanding)...small piece so the wet sanding isn't that bad, its what makes the difference though...so patience is key...

I haven't done a perfect piece yet but getting close, I give props to companies churning out CF daily...not easy.

That just looks like a cool side project! You'll be pleased to say you did it when it's all said and done! :)

I was a good boy and did not pass a BMW, who earlier was drifting through turns. Turns out a hidden cop was waiting for my maneuver.

huh cool, keep us posted if those wipe the entire width of the blade on our glass.

i bought some piaa or bosch or something on my G as winter blades and it doesnt quite wipe the very bottom edge on the passenger side. not a huge deal, but a little bummed (but was expected of aftermarket blades).

yah, reminds of my Ings+ CF splitter. it came in with ragged edges and basically raw resin over CF. i had to wetsand quite a bit before clearcoating. :ugh2: :D

yah, so last night i had to PDR my digital piano. lol :icon17: i found a small dent (not sure from where) but took the thing apart completely and used my knockdown tool from the back to push out. looks perfect. :p i was almost thinking about taking off the side pieces to be CF wrapped. lol :rofl2:

Just to satisfy my need for posting, here is one from me. I guess I cannot go even a day.

I had to drive to Menlo Park and deliver a proof of concept thing for 5 hours today. Travel plus onsite = 12 hours. My favorite kind of work day.

Haha, thanks for thinking of me!

Ugh, dealing with stuff around the house tonight...typical joys of owning instead of renting. not only that, I made dinner too!

Getting more quotes for paint/prep/hang of my Evo-R diffuser today. Looks like I'm going with the third out of four places. They don't need the car but for a couple of hours and the price/ guarantee is right. In addition to that, they're right down the street from work...so I can drop it and come back in the two hour's time that they need! :)

Will do, I'll be popping them on tomorrow and will let you know how it goes.

DWS44 02-08-2012 09:24 PM

I went and had a clear bra installed on the nose of the Z this morning, before the fresh (and cured) paint gets all chewed up! First time I've had this done, but looks like they did a nice job!

happytheman 02-08-2012 09:35 PM

Nice! A lot of the community members swear by it!

Knio 02-09-2012 12:58 AM

I got my car back last night. I have traction again, woo! new RE-11's are amazing after the 050s with no tread, lol.

The intakes sound very nice.. but I can't feel a difference in power. Oh well.

Sway bars and oil cooler will be tested on the track. I leave for Laguna Seca tomorrow, I'll try to post pics and videos after the weekend :)

martin82 02-09-2012 01:17 AM

continuation of yesterday, wing doesn't come with a template I even asked seibon. I made my own: http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...63686952_n.jpg

Here's the wing all lined up and taped down the template. I removed the wing and drilled the holes. The inner hatch needs to have two 1" diameter holes that I didn't have the right tools. I Will have to stop by tomorrow at home depot and find something.... should be done tomorrow and ready for racing on Saturday!

Mecinoid 02-09-2012 01:53 AM

When to the golf course to have lunch with a friend in the Z.

Then I drove the Z to the Bay Area using Auto Mode for a while. Nice to have auto in that traffic. Dropped off some floor mats, cargo area mat and wiper arm to a 350Z member and talked cars for about an hour. Drive home in manual mode having some fun with the windows down and listening to the downshifts. Nice ride back through the hills.

After that oil and transmission fluid change for my Jeep GC and plan out some maintenance / mods for the Z.

All in all a pretty fine day !!!!

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...Z/IMG_3037.jpg

Mecinoid 02-09-2012 03:46 AM

Oh new day new item .... Just blinded the Z on the steering wheel. I'll have to see what it looks like in daylight. So far, I like. Time for a drink and bed.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...Z/IMG_3411.jpg

MrZ 02-09-2012 08:51 AM

Finally bit the bullet and bought my first mod. After reading all the threads and everyones comments on CAI and whether they work or not or if they are worth the money etc, etc.. I went with Z1 post MAF tubes in black only because I want to try and keep the factory look inside the engine bay. A big thank you to the folks at Z1 for helping with the order after online was an epic fail a quick call to there ordering department and I was in business. Now I am not expecting crazy gains off anything i plan on doing to my Z. I think Nissan has done an outstanding job with the car already and I only wish to enhance everything that makes this car great. Next will be either NST light weight pulley kit or CNT Resonated T-pipes. Decisions decisions

Fire 02-09-2012 09:36 AM

OK guys you can beat me. After saying that I'm a Z guy for the long run I caved again and looked Chevy way. Today I confirmed my ordering of a 2012 ZL1 Camaro, red coupe, black stripes, 6mt, black rims the zl1 is 580hp and has raced tuned susp. m4a1 you are attending the zdayz with your mustang right? Would it be uber strange to attend with my zl1?
