Just check the post-office website and the spoiler is on its way to my mechanic's place today, "out for delivery" :happydance: :happydance:

Depends on the weather, most likely will put on both the spoiler and spacers no later than next Wed.

Might not be able to do it this week cos I might have to leave the car to the dealer to have them replace the soft top cos the rubbing issue.

Good Morning Mr.happythebud, Mr.onzedge, Mr.Fire, Mr.ZMan8, Mr.TerribleOne, Mr.Papo AND Everyone!!!!! :tiphat: :tiphat:

Stuck in my basement sanding drywall mud. Hopefully I'll get out for a quick drive later.

Damn man. :shakes head: It's one thing to scrape your own stuff, but it's entirely another whe nsomeone else does it. Are there any surveillance cameras near where that happened? Sorry for the way your day started. :(

gofaster87 04-02-2012 11:58 AM

I dont understand why it so hard for people to park or pull out of a parking spot. My girlfriends car had been hit a dozen times in parking lots since we moved to Vegas several years ago. Ive been lucky with my cars but my work truck seems to get dinged all the time. Casino parking lots are far worse than any other lot, too many old people that shouldn't be driving or too many drunks. I try not too drive the Z in the evenings when most of the lot accidents happen but its too much damn fun not to drive.

I almost always park away from everyone. This doesn't protect me from malice of course. :shakes head:

FAQ's Engine Cooling Systems

So is this for trucks or cars?

happytheman 04-02-2012 01:57 PM

Trucks, cars, motorcycles or whatever. It's expensive, but it's supposed to prevent corrosion and makes your hoses last longer. Some claim lower oil temps and better fuel economy.

Dealership just called. New trans already installed!!! Going to pick her up now  I cant believe how fast this process was!

kenchan 04-02-2012 02:20 PM

our cars were designed to use the coolant that came in the engine so i'd use that.

plus, these newer coolants only need replacement like once every 6yrs or something crazy. my G's had to be replaced 4yrs in and from there every 2yrs drain and fill. :)

Mr.kenchan, are you interested in the SkyActiv thus looking into the CX-5??

It's a new technology and with the 13:1 compression ratio....

You know reliability from Mazda...

Why not a Rogue??

hi mr.alcheng- im looking for a hatch with 6MT that can atleast haul some stuff i buy at home depot and wheels/tires, and a car that i wouldnt worry at all parking at the airport or shopping center.

it has to be a fun to drive car yet fairly boring so it hides in the background. :icon17: i had a Fit 5MT and while it was fun to drive the seating position and pedal location (too close) was terrible for me and too damn slow... so got rid of it last year just as soon as my smaller kid could get in/out of my G on his own. :D

max budget: $22K MSRP. i dont want to spend too much on this car as i want to save up for my next hobby car.

Well, I must say that my new trans dont feel too great. Its very hard to get into 5th & 6th. It seems like the neutral gate slightly extends past the gates for 5th & 6th so it jams. I hope I explained that so its understandable. Why would this be!?!?!?! And if the trans is defective why didnt the tech notice. Aaarrrgggg, frustrating!

so they gave you new syncro's for 5th and 6th instead of a new tranny? i would let the dealer know what's going on and then tell them you will drive it for a week to see if it improves or not. :)

It is a brand new trans.

Definitely let the dealership know so it can be documented.

Mr.kenchan, there are couple other choices besides CX-5, I am a bit hesitate on it because personally I am not a fan of Mazda, also the SkyActiv is a new technology they newly put it on their fleet, I usually don't want to be the first batch try the new tech and round up facing some issues....

Also, looking at the 13:1 compression ratio..... I know it is not a sports car engine.... mmmm........ :ugh2:

Have you looked at Matrix, the price and engine specs falls into your criteria pretty good, it has MT and also more torque than the CX-5, lower ride height than the CX-5 thus I believe more fun to drive. :tiphat:

Wait!!! Did I hear 'my next hobby car'??

Mr.Alchemy, maybe because it's a brand new transmission and needs some time to break-in?? I will suggest you report the issue to the dealership first and meanwhile drive it for a week and see if the problem will go away. :tiphat:

yah, mazda is like a japanese hyundai to me so im not a huge fan either...but they do make sort of fun to drive cars (i had a brand new Protege5 a long time ago for 6months before i sold it for a MINI :icon17: ). and you're right about getting the fresh technologies and the first year bugs. :icon14:

toyota is like a japanese buick (or olds... remember those? lol) to me so i dont like them at all. hahahahaha. :D i hate the US toyota lineup.

so this leaves me with only a few choices for MT's and hatch. i dont want to get another Fit. my other choices would be a Golf/Cooper.

yep, im not selling my Z any time soon, but i save up for my cars in the background. i expect to keep my Z for at least 8-10yrs like how ive been keeping my G. my G still looks brand new.

Juke is less expensive than CX-5, I thought you didn't consider it because it may be too small, but it's bigger than the Fit so I think it should be ok. :icon17:

I drove the Juke around this past weekend, running errands with Mrs. Dr. onzedge. I love that vehicle. I can't wait to finish break-in period and get a decent exhaust on it.

I wish that was the case but I dont think its something that would just go away. Picture this..... You are upshifting from 4th so naturally you push diagonally away and up from you. What it seems to be doing is going slightly too far right. Like the neutral gate extends a quarter inch past the gates for 5th and 6th. Its almost as if you can start pushing it towards reverse without pressing down on the knob like you would to normally engage it. Something is surely awry. Plus my car has been throwing a p0300 code again lately. It did it last year a couple times and now did it last wed before I took it to the dealer. I cleared it w my friends obdII but it popped back up today on the way home:facepalm: what a mess. The code is for a random cylinder misfire. I wonder what is causing this. I plan on checking my spark plugs very soon. UGH, Z FRUSTRATION!!!!! Of course all this is happening as I am trying to install the rest of my mods and prepare for ZDAYZ in May

Alchemy 04-02-2012 04:58 PM

Here is a drawing to better explain the problem. The arrow is pointing to the groove that its getting stuck in. Like I said, its like the neutral gate extends too far before you have to push down for reverse.

I took Mr.Alcheng's advice and went down to see how the water looked today.

I didn't go to the beach though, I'm not sure I would make it safely over the speed bumps now with the swift springs. I'll test it out another time.

That might be the plate for the reverse lock-out. Lift up your shifter trim (you'll need to lift up a rubber boot as well) and run through the gears, look closely at the nub on the right side of the shifter in relation to the proximity of the lock-out plate. Perhaps they messed around with the shifter/lock-out plate?, although they shouldn't have had to remove it.

Dang, Hudson Bay is very blue. :icon17:

Seriously, driving over bumps with the Swifts just takes practice. I almost never rub. Think "angles". Think "slow". Think, but don't say "screw you guys honking at me because it takes me so long to exit the grocery store parking lot".

I hope this helps.

Yeah. This sounds like it very well could be a shifter, not a tranny, issue.

Hmmmmm. Im not too familiar in the realm of the transmission. You guys are saying it could be a simple shifter adjustment that could be off??
