I think my dealer covered up an accident.

Even Carfax isn't fool-proof. Some cars have virtually no history Carfax can pull. It can give you a positive indicator if there's lots of service records, but it can't give you a reliable indicator that nothing bad ever happened. It's not that hard to have a wreck and get it fixed and keep the entire thing off the books (both the wreck and the repair).

I am wondering what carfax will say about my car when I go to sell it..

I was in an accident..I opened the door while parked at the donut shop on the way to the gym and someone with a BMW pulled in beside me as I was opening the door and hit his door on the edge of my door. The damage was zero to my car but his got a small bump and a scratch on his. Cost $350 to fix. It was reported to the insurance company as a precaution and they said I was to blame.

Now I wonder how this will look on car fax. Is an accident just labeled as an accident with no details? I mean a ding on a door has got to be different from being hit by an Amtrack train..but will carfax make it clear what happened or just say "yes this car was involved in an accident.?"

A buddy of mine who works at CarMax said that repairs only get reported to CarFax if the shop reports.

If the repair shop doesn't report, won't see it on a Carfax report.

I'm not saying this to be a jerk... but that's kind of obvious. If it's not reported, how would they know?

But anyway... mine was sold as NEW. That's a little different.
