I have personally seen these in action and ill tell you this, although it only goes about 120 mph I believe, it takes off like a bat outta hell. Instant torque. I was blown away the first time I saw one rip off from a standstill. Electric isnt appealing to me. I like the gas, the loud engines and exhaust notes. Not having an exhaust to me is no fun. Is gonna be a sad day when combustion engines cease to be produced. We will ALL be driving electric someday Im sure.

look at teslas review on top gear. a 55 mile range and handling like a pig is not what i call fun. furthermore, i believe that there will be something to replace gasoline for internal combustion engines. if not, there will be millions of 2 ton paperweights around the worls... im sry but the world will never go full electric practically...

It will take a long time to get there.

agreed. right now unforunately the words sports car and electric do not go in the same sentence. current technology doesnt allow it. nissan will be writing the z's death sentence if it does this.

If gas gets super cheap it will be a death sentence...

But that's unlikely. It's got a better chance at reinvigorating the Z brand than it does destroying it, IMO. My guess is we'd see a hybrid Z before a full electric.

Actually, with companies like Porsche, Ferrari, and Audi turning to hybrid/electric sports cars, that may change within a couple years as they get more involved in those projects.

I think people will change their minds once these cars go mainstream and people actually get a chance to drive them.

The key word is "current". For example, if they work out the kinks in Zinc-Air batteries, you've gone 95% of the way to get to where you need to be (lot lighter..lot more power). That the Leaf already works as basic transportation shows the direction we will probably end up going.

People where scared and disliked the car when it first came out. Horse back was the main personal transport. Just look at how far it has come since then.

Good to hear!

Yeah it would take a really long time for the world to get to fully (or mostly) electric. I'm interested in what the modding scene will be like for electric cars. You know it's not going to disappear, but it will be very different from what it is today. Probably more suspension than power mods or maybe more emphasis on tuning? Bigger electric motors for the wheels? Aftermarket combustion engine?

Whether we want to or not that's how it's going to be.

They will just have a sound system that is hooked to the throttle that makes engine and exhaust sounds.

i still believe something will need to replace gasoline to run in internal combustion engines. there are over 750 million vehicles in the world today. can u imagine car companies allowing themselves to turn 750 million vehicles into 2 ton paperweights? every vehicle made to this point would become obsolete

Which is exactly why it would take FOREVER! They would have to figure out some way for them to be recycled into useful material. I don't think we'd ever reach a point where they were all gone. There will always be a few left, desperately hung onto by enthusiasts.
