We already have good aftermarket kits for add-on oil:air. The stock water cooling system seems to have more than enough excess capacity to help out, and it would reduce warm-up times as well.
Yep. I think a cheap o:w would fix the car up where it could handle a couple hot laps, but still be driven in cool climates.

You gotta figure the unit would add less than $30 to nissans cost on the car, too

It takes less than two days to build the car, less than a month for the boat to arrive. The rest is just dead time.

Just came back from dealership. I got a 2012 brochure. Read it and saw no mention of an oil cooler on the spec sheet. I did see mention of brake ducting. So I asked the parts guy for a price and he has no listing of said part.

I am going to start a new thread with this.

After it's built it's all just dead time if you want to say it that way. Sitting on a boat for a few weeks, sitting in customs for a week, sitting on a train for a few days, sitting in a hub parking lot for a few more days, sitting on a truck for a couple days, then sitting in your dealer's lot until you pick it up.

I'm just trying to figure out how long all this stuff takes, from how many they build a day (or week or what ever), from the build date to actual delivery. It may take 2 days to build one as you say, but because of the way a production line works, that really doesn't tell us anything. It probably takes GM 2 days to build a single Chevy 1500 from start to finish, but off the line they crank out more than one a minute.

With less than 10,000 Z's sold per year, we know Nissan is not cranking out this car out like that. Kicking *** they are probably making 200 a week, tops. This is pure speculation on my part. That's why I'm trying to figure it out, so I know and don't have to speculate.

new 2012 370Z

Since we only know of 1 on this forum as of right now, we really need danegrey to snap us some pictures. As more cars filter in we will get a definitive answer.

The build time has always been 2-3 months, normal order:
Order
Wait a few weeks and then your car begin productions
Build time is probably a week or to, remember there are inspections and other onsite requirements before it ships out.
2 weeks on a boat for shipping
Customs is a week (was for mine)
Prep in the states, either LA or Tenn
Transit time
Delivery to dealership

The major wait period is the building as even though your order is placed it might be a few weeks before they even start your cars production, especially if the dealership just placed its order. Transit times vary because they wait for full loads before shipping, be on rail, 18 wheeler, etc.

Thanks for the insight on the regular order.

The thing is, if you check out one of my original threads, this car basically got put on production hold this year due to the tsunami. Since the Z and the GTR are Nissan's lowest priority, they got shoved to the back burner. No dealer I know of in all of Southwest Ohio has gotten an actual Nissan car allocation since way back in March / April. No direct special orders (which not all dealers know about) were taken from Nissan in June or July while they were playing catch up from the shut down and the cars they lost. After calling Nissan distribution every week all summer, my dealer was finally able to special order my car in late August, when Nissan knew when 2012 production would start in September.

So any other time I'd say you were absolutely correct. But the tsunami changed the normal way of things and it's only just now coming back around.

If 2012's are delivering now, and they only started production in September, that's less than 2-3 months, that's 1 to 1-1/2 months, tops.

I just like investigating. I'd also like to know if my car will be coming sooner due to some things going on in my life right now. This may sound crazy but sooner isn't going to make thing easier scheduling wise.

Thanks again --- Bonzo
