You should have gotten two functional fobs. There is no such thing as a 'dummy' fob from the factory. A new fob is going to cost you.....I have heard more than $200. You can have your spare fob reprogrammed to your ignition if is doesn't work. I am not sure how much the dealership will charge for that. If you are buying a new fob, they will have to program it for you. They may feel sorry for you and do them both at the same time.

Does the key inside your spare fob unlock your doors? Sounds like the PO gave you a fob for another car, or at least an unprogrammed one.
Sounds like you're going to have to tow the car to the dealership to get a new fob programmed. |
