I shouldn't have used the term "real z driver" i guess. fact is backing out of a parking spot can be dangerous because you can't see what is coming from the sides at all. Friends used to make fun of me bc I back into all my parking spots now, they thought I was doing it to be cool. sorry, I'm not in my twenties any more, not much is done anymore bc its "cool" I tend to have practical reasons for my madness now a days.

I'm just messin' with you. I feel your pain. When I back out, I just inch, inch, inch, inch, inch until I can see. Don't know how other "real z drivers" do it but that's my technique. But really, I rarely park where I'd have other cars around me. I'm usually in no man's land where you can see all around and if anyone's walking or driving by you'd see them coming for miles. I'm glad to have a downward slope to my driveway so I don't have to brutalize the clutch every time I leave the house.

That's what I usually do. It's much worse when you're parked next to a pick up truck

Here in TX you can't get away from the pickup trucks. Inch by inch by inch is the ONLY way to do it safely when backing up in the Z. I always feel like an idiot when it takes me forever to clear the full cab extended bed pickup truck only to see a car waiting who was nice enough to yield even when they didn't want my parking space.

Yeah I hate having to deal with that. There's a couple in my apartment complex and when I come home late at night, guess where the one open parking spot is.

Murphy dictates that the pickup shall be taking up part of that last available spot as well.

Gotta love the eliteness of the Z... it's nice when people recognize.
My husband says people are always letting me in/yielding/stopping for me because I'm female. I say no way. Never happened when I had my GTI. They see the hotness of the Z and they do the right thing. Am I right?

(But then there are the people who go out of their way to block you/cut you off/etc because they are envious. That's a whole other thread.)

Girl, you are SPOT ON with that observation. I definitely respect other vehicles on the road that are obviously driven by enthusiasts, providing extra room and other subtle gestures in my driving mannerisms. Sometimes they notice, sometimes not, but I absolutely notice when other drivers provide the same courtesies to the Z.

Then, of course, there are the jealous idiots. I try to just get out of there way as much as I can, but sometimes they just need a little lesson

All we've got is jealous idiots here. It sucks. I consider myself an enthusiast and check out every car whenever they're around. I often look at the driver just to give him a "nice car" nod, but I've noticed people NEVER look at me in the 370z. I think they're in a nice car, and see me in a nice car, and feel the need to be a prick.
