I'm sure there's a failsafe, but can the push button shut down the car while your driving? What if you had to shut it off because of a stuck accellerator?
I'm guessing you would have to hold it down for a few seconds to shut it off. Not exactly something I want to try, just curious.

yea i don't think that it does anything while driving, but i definitely wouldn't try it. if you have a stuck accelerator, take the car out of gear and pull over

Correct me if I'm wrong, but think that way back when, to start the car, you pulled out the choke lever, turned the key on and pressed the starter button mounted on the dash. My point is that the push button starting is not totally brand new. It was also done in the '30's and '40's.

I thought you had to hold the button down for like the first 2 weeks I had my car. (I've never had a car with push button start.)
Then I touched it once and it came on... I was like... hell yea! I wuz noobz ^^^ I tried pushing the button while driving and it doesn't shut off. I don't know about holding it... but you can push it all you want and nothing should happen. |

I have to admit I probably push the start/stop button longer than needed. I push and hold until ON lights up and then let go. Stopping just requires a quick tap.

I believe that the red GT-R button should be standard in the Z for in the case of an emergency it will standout as the logical button to push from the years of psychological norms we have been indoctrinated with throughout life.
