Hello all, a long time lurker here. I have been a 370z fan since it first came out in 2009. Sadly, being a poor college student, i was far from realizing the dream. But as i get closer and closer to graduation, my hopes are at all time high of finding a decent job and upgrading my ride. (If you're curious enough, i come from a nissan family. I've owned a 04 G35 coupe. But after it was totaled in 2010 i have been driving around a 03 accord coupe 6MT.)

Now, back to the topic. Based on past nissan trends with 350z and g35 coupe, the 370z is up for a mid-cycle refresh. Here is my short wish list for the updated Z.

(I'm going to start from the front of the car down to the back.)

1.Updated front fascia. Although the fangs are slowly growing into me, I would like to see something more lovable. Heck, i wouldnt mind if they threw in a nismo front in there.

2. reworked engine. There has been rumor about nissan going the direct fuel injection (DFI) route. It seems to be the latest trend everywhere and more power, better fuel economy, whats not to love. I am not a engine guru and do not know if it would play well with the current VVEL system.

3. update fuel gauge. No offense to current owners, but to me it is an eye sore to the otherwise beautiful interior. A multi info lcd display or a plain old needle style gauge would be nicer.

4. sportier looking, lighter bucket seats. The current seats look bland, specially the big headrest.

5. last but not the least, better exhaust note. common now nissan, work some magic here. I dont know if the same DFI would contribute here, but in my books a stock 350z sounded a lot better.

Now, its your turn. what would you like to see in the updated 370z, chime in your expert opionions and nissan lust.

PS: I know you can go aftermarket route and address a lot of things above. But it would be nice to have these from factory, hopefully without a big increase in price. Also, forgive me if there is too many similar threads out there; couldn't help but put it out.

Happy driving.
Your criticisms update fuel gauge. a plain old needle style gauge would be nicer, and a better exhaust note. Can't disagree. But just buying the exhaust of your choice is easy.

Seeing as how you are a poor college student, Keep your current car or buy an older car for cash now and worry about new cars later.

Your car will always be considered cool because of its driver.

1. Give it a better looking front end. Thats big reason I went with Nismo.

2. Fix the rear hatch rattle.

3. Put real sport seats with ability to accept 6 point harness belts

4. Rework the motor to deliver better top end performance. It should scream all the way to redline. Not top out 500 to 1000 RPM before redline. Make it more rev happy! Current motor spins up way too slow.

5. Introduce a paddle shift manual transmission similar to Porsche PDK

6. Offer car with suspension adjustments which allow at least -3 degrees of camber

7. Make sure the car doesnt have oil cooling issues from the factory

8. No fuel starve issues

9. Brembo or Stop Tech brake option

10. Drop weight to 3000 lbs.

11. Offer a special edition turbo. .....Please!

12. Eliminate that dang drivetrain vibration that both 350 and 370 have.

13. Do something to stop the rear wheel hop issue that both the 350 and 370 have had.

2. I get a rattle now that I have done test pipes and CBE, is that what your talking about?

3. What car has this in at this price

4. Compared to what? An S2K, Indy car? I think the car revs real fast, and top of the RPM range is where she shines.

5. Maybe I dont understand what your saying, do you mean like a dual clutch tranny?

6. Once again, what car has this (in reason)

7. Totally agree, but it can be fixed so easy, so it was never a concern

9. Whats wrong with the Sport brakes? Same size rotors up front as a Z06 and 4 piston??

11. Z is suppose to be affordable, want a turbo? get a GTR

12 Dont have it??

The Z actually revs real slow. Not sure if you changed your flywheel or something but the 30lb flywheel we have is not helping with it.

Pretty tall order for what the Z is. Not that I wouldn't like a lot of those changes, it's just kind of unrealistic I think.

Very unrealistic for the Z current price range. Some people want everything for nothing. Would i say no to any upgrade not really but, for the price IMO there isn't a better looking/handling/or quicker car that does what the Z does and looks damn good while doing it.

I like how my z looks so I suppose the only change would be to offer smaller side mirrors. Those dumbo ears are just too dang huge.

True the mirrors are big but with them adjusted right the Z has no blind spots.
