I know that S-mode helps when DOWN-shifting, but is he true by any chance?

Also, does S-mode on consume more gas or battery?

any fuel consumed by synchro rev match (blipping the throttle) is negligible, and yes it works on up shift as well. it will hold the rpms instead of letting them continue to fall, meaning if you shift slowly into the next gear it will still be smooth.
