Actually, when I took it to Chevy, they paid for a cab to drive me the 13 miles home so I could get some sleep that day--and pick me back up. Two new tires: $176. Cab-ride for 26 miles? Free for me. Impressed!

If $150K was all that, I would have bought something more expensive than my Z, like a Porsche... or a new Z08
It all depends on what you are doing in life and how you manage your money, not what you make. I simply quoted the last number I remember Forbes spouting regarding the topic. If I made $150K a year, I would probably end up in a GT2 or something. Like you say, though, I have no other bills to speak of.

not bad!

at my inf dealer they give me a loaner making sure it's something nicer so that it's more like a test drive than a loaner... they want me to take interest. pretty smart idea, but hasn't worked on me.

it's been a very long while since the last time i took my car in for service... i think my G35C was the last one in to get it's first free oil change 6+ yrs ago.

Nah, I wouldn't buy a car that was very much more at all than I gross in a year. I think that's a bit over-spending, but some people might disagree.

As to the GT2, I would have NO problem with a lightly used 997. That would come in at around 150, give/take.

I definitely wouldn't, very bad debt load even if single. About the highest that is financial sound is 50% of your gross income. Obviously you could go higher if you have very little in the way of expenses and are good at saving money. The more you make the more your wife seems to spend so cash in the pocket doesn't directly go up. I usually squirrel away my end of year bonus and use part of it to fund the year's track expenses, some mods etc, and use the rest to pay down debt or invest.

Supposedly, this is true. However, I rarely see this being the case or being a problem. That would mean everyone who owns a new Z, the minimum income is around 60K gross. I doubt that.

I draw my limit at price of the car within 10% of annual gross income. That's just what I feel comfortable with. Then again, I just rent, and have no bills but utilities and food/gas, etc.

I said financially sound, however as a country we are not known for taking the best financial advise Yes, 50% is a bit generalistic, a single guy can afford much more than a married guy with a mortgage, wife and kids.

No doubt! If I had kids/wife/gf/whatever, I wouldn't even be on this forum. I would be puttering around in a 10-year-old Ford Exlpoder or something.

I think financially sound is knowing your budget and living within in. How you allocate your budget is up to you/based on personal priorities. Many people in my position would buy a house. I don't want a house in this state, so I am buying a car because I won't move for a couple more years, anyway, but not long enough for the house to be a smart call. It's all about personal situation.

Nice upgrade, how'd this go?
You should get this in white or black!
I've seen this car in white and man >:]
The owner complimented me on the Z also.
But I know deep down inside he was like RICER!

Sorry for the mis-lead, I didn't say I wouldn't get the Porsche, I meant I wouldn't get the $250K car as mentioned by another poster. And your list sounds like mine except I have 2 mortgages (one as a landlord), a wife and 6 vehicles.
