decisions..decisions....decisions. Grrrrrrr!

I have a base, black, manual, 25k miles, Rays wheels, non dings/scratches, garages, and was offered $22.5k by the Nissan dealer.

Do you guys think 22.5k is reasonable? Nissan wants to keep the Rays.

I am pulling out my stereo, front BIg brakes, sways, coilovers, and Nismo Exhaust (if I can find someone quickly who wants to upgrade).

Why the S. Why not the R?

I agree, R is just a little more and the option to put airconditioning in it isn't rediculously expensive. It should hold value a touch better and not be "just another Cayman" on the road.

But I want to be just another car. . Being a commoner promotes less envy.

ps,

The Z is still awesome and great for its value. Who knows? After a good breakfast tomorrow, I may say "screw Porsche."

btw Porsche rate is 1.9% for the 911 series. You guys should go and buy your X'Mas gift. Cheers!

Lol, buy a silver G20 . My own Dad parked 1 cary away and never even noticed it was my car. I lose it in parking-lots at times. It is the most non-distinct car I have ever owne.

Not sure about R. Besides what I want/may do is commit a misdeaminor (sp?) financial mistake, NOT a feloneous mistake.

That is not a great trade in value. But the APR for the cayman is very good.

I don't know about you, but cars are one of my guilty pleasures (probably the most expensive guilty pleasure I have. I mean, could I really spend 30k on cigars? Golf clubs? Tools for my workshop?) So if you want the Cayman, get the Cayman. Car and Driver rated the 2011 as one of the top 20 cars of the year, and the best sports car under 100k. They also have the heads up their arse's, but that's for another thread.

Ironically, I think we are the same. I already have 2 rear-engined cars in the garage. If this happens, this would be my first and only mid-engine car. I work on cars extensively (i.e., I perform my own major services); so I kinda of could justify it as I save major bucks on labor.

i couldn't do it but that's me. the interest rate is good though...
what about the upkeep on the porsche vs the 370 say over a 24 month period? sounds like you will take a good hit on the after market parts you will remove also..

Well then, light up something good (I'm partial to Nicaraguan), swing a Cleveland wedge and imagine which will look better in the driveway - the Z or the Porsche

With this in mind, I say go for it!
I had the opportunity to purchase a gently used Cayman from a friend, but thought twice about it when my wife reminded me how much the upkeep on her Mercedes is.
Sure, the Z and the Cayman might perform equally, but so do a Timex and a Rolex when it comes to telling the time. Why would people buy one over the other? The Cayman looks tits and it says Porsche on it. If buying a Cayman makes you feel good and it's not a financially wreckless decision, then do it! I'll be here watching while being just a little jealous.

Nah!

1. I do not think the Cayman looks tits.
2. Some people buy Porsche for reasons and not because it says "Porsche"; unless you have owned AND driven one, it is somewhat hard to relate.

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I would love looking at a Cayman in my driveway because I do think it's a gorgeous car.

As for point 2., I was trying to be brief with my response. Sure, there are plenty of esoteric, intangible reasons to purchase one comparable item over another aside from name cache... I was going with an obvious analogy.
While I've never owned a Porsche, I've had plenty of opportunities to log seat time at SCCA and PCA events, so I think I get it.
