they compared it to the ZR1 on top gear UK. I believe the ZR1 was slightly faster, but they said that you'd need to be a very high level driver to get the ZR1 around the track faster than the GTR

this is the video you are looking for BTW. i dont really care bout the launch control issue, i have never considered buying a GTR (not in my price range) and havn't done much research on it, but it took me about 2 seconds to find this video.

They are going to need to sqeeze 10's out of that new GT-R to hold the record over the Z06. If they can do that, I will be IMPRESSED!

I found it a couple of pages and 15 minutes ago, thanks for posting it in this format, though, looks better!

The launch-control feature isn't a big deal for me, but the child in me does like a burn-out now and then, and with the GT-R, that would void the warranty ASAP on the driveline. It makes the car seem even more "isolated". No tire-spinning. No shifting. You just turn the wheel, modulate the brakes/accelerator, flick some levers. Great on the track, but I think I would get bored on the street.

Just went and looked. Nice! I wonder what the rest of the 1/4 mile pass would look like.

HKYStormFront 12-01-2010 03:51 PM

considering MC ran a very low 11 with LAUNCH CONTROL 2 i'd imagine it will be right at the breaking point of a high 10 or 11 even... that's my guess tho

Nitrouz 12-01-2010 03:52 PM

ok ok.....enough about the GTR. I'm not here to discuss my current car... Discussing any precautions with an upcoming vehicle.

Is purchasing a car from US possible, or must you buy Canadian?

That's amazing considering the rate the US $ is being printed these days.

Yep. Our currency has gone down the crapper.

We have 370Z's rotting on the lots here in the US. NISMO, 40th, any color you want pretty much just in my town. Sucks that you can't buy US :(

haha i know i'm just kidding around. actually at most exchange places the premium they charge gets you less CAD then USD even though its like .974 USD/CAD. when i took a trip to canada i knew that was about the exchange rate, so i was like 'well at least with the premium it'll pretty much be even. NOPE. bastards. the funny thing was instead of just saying theres a premium, they just said the fx rate was 1.2 USD/CAD, i was like' dude.. no it isn't'

Sorry, but the letters "GTR" are like catnip for car guys!

Re: the Z...get an exhaust right away. More power, great sound and somehow it cures road noise:ugh2:

oh I'll get exhaust, kit, wheels, and suspension before I get the car. I always do.

exhaust = HKS
kit = still debating...maybe a mix between amuse and sunline
wheels = volk or venaci
suspension = KW or HKS

whats funny is this whole quantitative easing thing, that everyone is praising, is just retarded. its supposed to decrease the value of the USD in hopes of increasing exports, but every other country pegs their currency to ours, so they just devalue their own currency, and all said and done, all we've done is devalue our currency. I also personally think this whole shipping restrictions based on terrorism thing is a crock too, yea there is a threat, but i think its blown out of proportion in order to help make it more difficult to import from other countries. but that has nothing to do with this thread.

what wheels and suspension are you gonna go with?

I've always been partial to HKS exhausts. Great quality, sound, and appearance. Without the Amuse pricetag.

Nitrouz 12-01-2010 05:03 PM

Just got a call from my dealer again...they've located a 2011 gunmetal 6mt fully loaded at the port. They're buying it in tomorrow for me to look at on Friday. I'm heading for a test drive and possibly come home with a 370z Friday.

and I may have to skip NAV if I want a 2010 black here in Canada... I originally wanted a 40th anniversary but it's all gone.

hahaha, u sound like u got some err "money" theres a 40th in markham, ontario. at village nissan. its parked outside tho.

40th in canada has nav.

Good job finding one in a color you like, I cannot wait to see how your future Z turns out as you have pretty much the dream list of plans anyone would wish for. Love the GTR, I have to admit I did not like them at all when they first came out but time has warmed me over and I actually like them quite a bit now.

SkyZ 12-01-2010 05:42 PM

hehe if u wanna go for the bells and whistles tho, the akrapovic exhaust just came out =]. 2 types axle back or cat back.

Nissan - Akrapovic

highest quality exhausts i have ever seen.

I know.

They have exhausts for the GTR too.

I only like them on my bikes. I'll stick to my research and preference, but thanks though.

we'll see. Gunmetal looks good in pictures...but I want to see it in person to decide whether I do gunmetal or black.

Jamaica 12-01-2010 06:05 PM

More options with black

DIGItonium 12-01-2010 06:12 PM

You should defintely do version 2.0 with your car. Bullitt is working on the 4.5L monster. I'm sticking to stage 1 with gtr intake plenum. Also note that it will be a pain to replace the stock triple meter.
