Gun metal looks great IMO and does have the paint issues that black has, or at least that's what it seems like after reading thru this forum.

The reason I'm liking this thread is we are getting to see someone we know has done it right w a 350 and maybe we get to see another great car get made into something g epic.

Hope this one continues for a long while.

Yeah I was on the phone with Sam for a while a few days ago discussing options.

what's the "triple meter"?

what do you mean by more options? it's harder to see the aesthetic lines though.

The 3 gauge cluster at the center of the dash, I presume.

Yea, unlike the 350Z the entire dash needs to be removed to replace the gauges. Just a bit of FYI ;)

looks like the dyno is at racing greed!!
both ur cars are sick man.
370z dynoed at 218whp on mustang dyno at racing greed....heart broken..

I say go for the more pure sports car, the 370z. The GTR is not a sports car, but a Malibu on steriods. I hate that auto transmission on the GTR!! Definitely needs a manual gearbox.

Hello,

I've just contacted my dealership to find me a 370z (no Z's left on their lot) and I will trade in my GTR for it. I'm just debating between black and blue... unsure which color I like more.

The last time I remember REALLY enjoying driving, was when I was driving my stock block 350Z with an APS TT kit. Simple TT kit on a stock block conservatively tuned, nice suspension, simple bodykit, wheels and tires. Nice unique little pocket rocket. Since then, I've spent a lot of money and time and built up the Z into a complete daily drivable show car. Lots of fun, but sometime in the build, it became more hassle than actual, uninhibited FUN. Always had to keep an eye on the gauges, listening to sounds, refilling water/meth, worrying if I want to go for a long distance road trip, etc.

Therefore I went for the GTR. With the GTR, it's an AWD all-season car, to the full extent. Fast, unique, 4 seater, good sized trunk, dual-clutch tranny, easily tunable, etc. Makes sense right? I spent the last 2 1/2 years of my life with the daily driven GTR. Full exhaust, intake, HKS BOV's, Cobb custom tune, wheels, suspension, lip kit, etc. Nice and simple. Sounds amazing. Makes sense in every aspect to keep it. However, I overlooked the most basic and primal factor in driving......the "fun". Don't get me wrong, the GTR is extremely fun on the racetrack, blowing past 911 turbos, GT3's, Lambos, Ferraris, etc. But on the street where I spend 90% of my driving time? Not so much. Fully stable and full of traction, it is not "fun" until you pass 140mph in a high speed corner. Yes it goes from 0-60 in under 3 seconds, but that's as much fun as it gets on the street. For me at least.

Therefore I've decided to go back to basics. 370z, simple GTM 500whp kit, wheels, suspension, kit, some other aesthetics. Simple little pocket rocket where I can have fun at 40mph instead of having to push up to 150+mph to have fun.

Now...I've been researching on this forum over the past few days. Great site btw. Read some of the little problems with the 370z (overheating, etc). Other than that, has anyone here found anything really annoying with the 370z? Not something everyone would KNOW from a test drive...but actually living with the car, any EMOTIONAL disappointments? I'm not looking for the fastest car. I'm not looking for the rarest. I'm looking for something that is rewarding emotionally everytime I get into the driver seat.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Alex

I couldn't agree more.

I have been fortunate enough to have experience with few cars, from M3s to ISF to Evos to C6 Z06 and such, but when it came having fun, the enjoyment of driving, nothing really satisfied me as the Z did, so I went back to it and got myself a 370.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

:driving:

half the people posting in here just sound crazy talking crap about the GTR, funny, but crazy.

on topic: your 350 looked amazing, now we are all expecting something even better with a 370 =]

Some people should just refrain from commenting on the GTR. Some of the comments in this thread regarding the GTR are just retarded.

There more color combo you can do with black. But your right hard to see the lines with black unless the paint job is almost near perfect.

Couldn't agree more. But it's obvious when someone comments if they have no experience with the GTR. I just laugh behind my computer...they're just embarassing themselves....who cares.

I must say it is a night and day difference between the GTR and z.when cornering in the gtr its a whole different world to me

yup it claws through the pavement. Whereas the Z gets a little tail happy if the entry balance isn't right. The GTR eats up corners like nothing, with no drama, just straight annihilation.

FL 4Motion 12-02-2010 12:33 AM

Nitrouz,
Good luck with your new 370z once you get it. As Juno stated earlier, we made the switch a little while back and the Z is def more fun at legal speeds. :) I do miss the space in the interior of the GTR though, the Z is a bit cramped for me but she fits in it just fine. Then again, I'm a tad bigger than average. So it may be of no consequence to you.

We've got the Nismo and we are super happy with it. Just upgraded the h/u and the nav in the kenwood unit is pretty much OEM quality and fit and finish on the unit is very very good. Since your plans involve so much mods, the Nismo probably doesn't make much sence for you, but if you were to just lightly mod the car, I'd say the Nismo is the perfect platform.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the Z immensely.:driving:

Hey thanks mate. I don't think I'll mod this 370z as much as my old 350, but I do want to do the basics (exhaust, suspension, kit, wheels, turbos). I guess that's all the Nismo inclusions, but I want aftermarket. So I guess a non-nismo would be best suited for me.

Anyways good luck! Hope you and Juno enjoy the car!

I guess you have your own opinion, but it seems that your getting rid of your GT-R because of lack of fun on the street mirrors my opinion of the car. Great for the track, boring on the street, no thanks.

Can't wait to see how your 370 turns out!

Absolutely. Our opinions mirror eachother, but the facts about the car, you sir have it incorrect. That's as far as I'll go with the GTR topic as the facts will stand and each will have their own opinion, just like any car.

I can't really make sense of this thread, but i won't be an ******* about it because im sure im missing something seeing as ive never driven an GTR.

I can say, i would get rid of my 370z for a GTR without hesitating if it was a possibility.

From what I gather he's looking for something RWD, smaller/lighter, and less computer involved, which I can understand to some degree (when you have the kind of money to build up a Z)

He's not talking a stock 370, his idea of basic bolt-ons includes turbos

ClemsonWill 12-02-2010 01:14 PM

I can see where he is coming from. Just because the GTR is a supercar doesn't mean it is fun for everyone to drive. Especially on the street.

Yeah, I remember when I traded in my Subaru Justy for a pickup truck...one more supercar off the road :icon17:

Nick911sc 12-02-2010 02:46 PM

You know, I saw the thread title and had to jump in. My father recently bought a GTR and after driving it I have to say I agree a lot on what the OP is saying. For going balls out fast/track car it's a real performer. But my god it is so boring and uninspiring from a daily driver standpoint...The car is constantly trying to keep you in 6th gear when you're driving around and the weight of the car along with the suspension makes you feel like you're in an army tank. I would have had more fun driving my girlfriends old corolla compared to the GTR in daily driving. As soon as I hopped back into my Z, although it obviously wasn't as fast..I felt like I was having way more fun.

Nitrouz 12-02-2010 03:12 PM

Bad news...dealer just called. The gunmetal one they had coming in for me turned out to be a convertible. That's a no-go for me. I'm still going in on Saturday to test drive it to get an idea about really driving the 370z on the street. But they'll bring in another one for me later on.

Geez what a let down.

Nick911sc 12-02-2010 03:24 PM

Convertible might be a different experience compared to driving the coupe. But I'm sure you're already aware of that.
