Now who's coming off very annoying? T-tops are "pretty retarded", "redneck", and "GAY"? 
Yes, if the seals start to go and you don't replace them you'll get rattles and ultimately get leaks (both of which can happen with a targa top too, BTW), but properly designed and maintained t-tops work just fine, are easier to store, and cars with them usually have extra body stiffness (less body flex) without having to design in extra support in the rear area of the car.
