I like the notchy feel, let's me know I am in gear. Seems like a lot of people like a smooth shift with zero feedback.

I also agree that you just probably need to get used to the clutch placement. I've never hit the brake on accident. Definitely do not settle for a color/trim you aren't sure you want.
