What did you do with your Z today

My Z burned oil for around 8-10k miles (though less than 1 qt per 3,000 miles) and then it stopped. The VQs can be hit or miss... some will burn

The VQs can be hit or miss... some will burn a little for a while, some will burn none, and then a few will drink the stuff up. You just need to monitor it regularly to make sure if it is burning any oil you aren't letting the oil levels get too low.
