wow, your car looks fantastic! nice job on the spacer install. :) i think your rear camber looks okay, what is the reading on it right now? around -2.6 range? ive been burning through rear tires at 2x the pace of the fronts so i think you're doing it 'right' (?). :rofl2: |
[QUOTE=kenchan;1216265]yah, i got shipping confirmation for everything EXCEPT the 16GB SD card... :ugh2: lol :rofl2: im sure i have a couple of SD cards i can use temporarily. :icon17: im :excited:[QUOTE]
Mr. Kenchan, It is nice to see that you took the leap and went with a DSLR. I thought about it for more than a year before I made the decision last month. I have 35 or so years’ experience shooting film and it was hard to let go. I am even thinking about potentially selling my darkroom equipment now. I made the mistake of mentioning this to my wife and now she is making plans for my darkroom. I went with a Canon 7D and it makes me feel like an idiot. In fact, I am shooting with it in a very rudimentary way and am hoping to graduate to usiing it more to its potential. One thing that helps is that I bought a "Dummies" book and I am studying it so we'll see how it goes. |
this thread makes me want a new camera.

mr. onzedge- wow, dark room inside your house. sounds like serious business! i think it is easier for me to make the 'leap' as i have no prior experience with a camera and it was just a matter of me thinking over if i would have the time to really play with photography or not. the only reason why i chose the D3100 over the 550D was the fact that it appears to have some newb menus i can use to learn from. i already have several time consuming hobbies (not really cheap either) and adding photography would mean i would need to invest even more of my scarce time. but then again, i have days where i dont play with my cars or my digital piano's so i would use that time to pratice camera shots taking picts of my kids. :p im even thinking about placing a few different color diecast cars outdoors in the sun and shade to play with different filters and exposures to get a grasp of how i would take shots of my real car when i have a time slot. :p Quote:
hey, gotz my tracking number for my Mine's! yay~ |
Thanks guys! I am almost done for now. I am going to do an exhaust and a tune and that should be it until I make the jump to a GTM TT kit.
I tip my hat to those of you that cut your teeth on film. I always wanted to but the initial outlay scared me. :tiphat: |

I think i will get what ever cannon comes out with next.. Or maybe Nikons newest? sigh... :icon17: And Ken chan! im jealous i think the mines would look perfect on my car with the EVO R diffuser. Or maybe amuse full, omg i give up. |

That is one of the D3000 and D3100's best features, I love being able to read explanations of every single thing in most menus and shooting modes even if many are fairly obvious. The first thing you should do is to do a shoot once your Mine's add on is installed. |
Quote:
Hahaha. Yah I have the fujimura rear diffuser so I think it should match up real nicely. :p Quote:
Yep, I'm going to snap some mines shots fo sure. :p |

I'm thinking I'll give my wife a list of goodies to get me for Xmas! @Beach - yer ride is looking sweet! I gotta tell ya, black is such a hot color on these cars when they've got a good polish on 'em! |
I drove from Killeen, Texas to Lawton, Ok. First long drive in my Z. Loved every second of it.
|
Discovered that my strut brace was a bit nicked up after returning from the spring install.
Not enough to throw a fit over, but enough to warrant a little TLC. I tried to polish the scratches out and ended up making a shiny area on an otherwise matte finished part. DOH!!! So I decided to pull it off and throw a coat of paint on it. I went with a hi-temp wrinkle finish: http://www.the370z.com/members/lunaz...trut-brace.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/lunaz...trut-brace.jpg I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I like the "visual texture" that it adds to the engine bay. (it's not bolted down yet because it still needs another 12 hours or so of curing time) |
^ told ya it's addicting. A good dslr is one of the best purchases I have made.
|
Finally Hi flow cats installed and 1200 mile oil change
|
Luna that looks great!
|
Wow Lunaz! That looks really hawt, and G2z's got it right on that the DSLR shot just pops! I really like the texture of the strut bar! Please give some details sir as to how you pulled that off!
|
Like the krinkle coat! Looks great. I painted mine silver because it just got lost in the dark background but that looks awesome.

I just wiped the part down with some acetone to remove any oils, laid out a tarp and placed the strut brace on top of 3 blocks of wood. Spray 3 heavy coats according to the directions on the can and wait... and wait. The directions say wait 48 hours to reassemble parts and they mean it. The finish is still a little pliable and I can tell that if I tried to torque down the bolts right now, the paint will twist and tear. Ugh... patience. |
Like the wrinkle paint Luna. I was in the autoparts store the other day buying Duplicolor anodize paint for a rc car project and almost bought some wrinkle paint for my intakes.
|
werd... the SD card arrived first... :ugh2: :icon17:
no camera, no mines.. :icon23: |

Wooohoooo... Christmas in July at the kenchan house. :) Have fun pal! PM me if you have any questions and I will try to help you out.
|
Nice Ken, hope you enjoy your new camera. It will come in mega useful. First thing you should shoot is that Mines spoiler. Glad you can afford it, if you ask me the Mines is way too much $$$$$$ for something that just mounts to the stock spoiler.

unless someone releases a damper set for our cars (hope Hitachi/tokico does). Thanks for the offer to help on my camera studies, I'm going to need it. I'm going to play with my camera this pm. :D Quote:
The Mine's was a perfect fit as expected. :) very easy to install. I don't think this piece is cheap by any means, but also I'm not going to buy fakes in respect to the tuners in japan that actually put thought into their products and brought it to tangible form. I can't see me convincing myself that I'm actually going to be happy with some faux crap especially on my hobby car. Can't afford it? Work harder! That's my motto. This is just a droidx shot. I luv this CF lip. :p http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...-27-25-196.jpg |
nice drill
|
Actually I already have a question ... :icon17:
what kind of monitors or notebook computers are you all running to edit the pictures? My PC at home has a terrible screen... I suppse I can hook it up to our tv monitor... I should get a new PC... |
