Yeah... been that way ever since highschool. I think it's because I was around rich kids who had mommy and daddy buy them brand new cars, while I was driving a POS ford escort with rusty doors and multi-colored panels. And these kids were treating their cars lik a$$. Every since then, I swore that when I became successful and could afford cars (and other things) on my own, I would always take care of them, never taking things I worked so hard for, for granted.

Anyways... I rant... sorry. Long story short, I HATE dirt, scratches, swirls, dings, food in the car, etc etc... You should have seen my 7 year old G35c when I traded her in for the Z. I want them to remain looking and driving like new, fresh off the showroom floor. I guess it benefits the person who buys/gets the cars after me :(

Here's my G the day I traded her in :( I miss Gina too... wish I could have them both.

Pronounced Gina, like Gina Gershon ;)

Detailing is like cooking. Some people find that microwaving or making spaghetti out of the box, and microwaving a bottle of Ragu is good enough. Some people want to to take their time cooking, sauteeing, grilling, baking, etc... and prepare more elaborate dinners.... I'm more the elaborate type ;)

Go to Autogeek.net... that's my favorite detailing site. I learned A LOT by just reading. I think Kenchan on here is also ad avid detailer. He's mostly Griots though (BOOOOOO... hehe kidding Kenchan). I'm mostly Optimum and Pinnacle and Chemical Guys...

That's a beuatiful car man. I also liked those colors. Had the G since new as well. Looks like you have the brembo package too?!?!!? Had I kept her, I would have SC'd her I think. Nevertheless, I wouldn't trade Zena for Gina (hehe). But I just WISH I could have kept them both. My wife just doesn't want to own 4 cars... boo.

kenchan 04-19-2011 02:10 PM

FromG2Z - LOL@ boo Griot's. :D hahahaha. ive tried a lot of different products but Griot's seems to be the right solution for me. :p it's real easy to use and cost effective.

thanks! yah mine's a 04 so it's the last gen with the brembo's. im running Endless pads right now... bites hard and no noise. :p i dont plan on doing any more mods on the car, just going to do maintenance work and enjoy her (she's shy 27K miles).

yah im not into chrome either. polished lip is as far as i would go. i prefer matte/satin look. although the factory sport wheel paint is kinda nice, i'd prefer it darker like the 40th's wheels. :)

370zproject 04-19-2011 02:16 PM

Yep looks so much better

kenchan 04-19-2011 06:05 PM

Checked oil level on the Z and added a tad. :) then admired her and her roommate.

I need to get another qt of 5w30...

Amazingz03 04-19-2011 06:44 PM

I cleaned her engine bay. I then stood to admire her beauty. As a cool breeze passed by my body i felt moister in my pants.. Yep i think i just jizzed.

I learned how far off the car's remaining distance measurement is. I ran it down to 0 miles remaining, drove it another 39 miles, and then filled up with 17.25 gallons

I already knew the car was pretty unaggressive with the measurement. I was just surprised by how much.

Mike 04-19-2011 10:07 PM

ordered Stoptech Trophy brakes from Forged Performance.

kenchan 04-20-2011 07:14 AM

*crickets* ...

FromG2Z 04-20-2011 07:59 AM

crickets???

Finally got to drive her today... weather is holding up at 10-20% chance of rain, so she's out. Truly enjoying the new exhaust. Whole diff't car IMO. It was a chilly 37degrees, so I could not lower the window to listen to it in its full orchestral symphony. :(

98intrigue 04-20-2011 08:19 AM

I bought Stance coilovers instead of replacing my OEM shocks for a 4th time.

RE: 4th time. What? What is the problem with the stock shocks? Not why did you replace them with coil overs, but replacing OEM shocks for a 4th time.

I wish I knew. My friend installed my H&R springs for me, but in doing so he broke the seals on the front shocks. So I replaced them with a pair from VIP STATUS. Those started leaky a few days later, so I bought another pair with only 1k miles on them from a member here...except this time I took it to a shop to rule out any installed error. They larger about a month and a half and now the driver's side shocks are blown. So instead of trying a 4th set of OEM shocks, I bought coilovers.

TheGreatOne 04-20-2011 11:08 AM

I detailed the interior last night. Was going to install my GTR button too but had cousins over

And lesson learned, don't Armor All the skid pad lol, drove to work today and my feet kept slipping off of it :rofl2:

But its shiny

that definitely sounds like something else is wrong. either that or you just have the worst luck!! goodluck with the coils though

meanwhile, last night i lifted the Z and played with the compression/rebound settings on my kw's. driving her to work today so lets see how uncomfortable the ride is now

Dembflyr 04-20-2011 12:53 PM

I'm getting good at taking the headlights apart. One hour to remove both from the car and strip them down to put the first one in the oven.

Had to fix the paint on one and a LED went out on the other.

It gives me a chance to redo the demon eye. It wasn't bright enough the first time.

90 ST 04-20-2011 12:58 PM

Nothing today yet, but yesterday i clipped a chunk of metal on the hwy and took out my rear sport wheel and new tire...

98intrigue 04-20-2011 01:07 PM

Just bought a JWT oil pan spacer for added protection.

haha, yah, we were enjoying our little knobs and emblems and carwashes and topping off oil and BAM! Mike had to stomped on us with his new cool brake systemagigger. :icon17:

congrats on the new exhaust! the Z's really missing sound in its stock state.

no Z action for me today... hopefully weather holds up tomorrow and i can take the G to work. :p

wow, you actually step on the skid pads? Maybe I'm the only one here who still has the protective plastic (from the factory) on the skid pads :) I still haven't removed them. In fact, I make special care I don't step on any part of the sill :)
