Not yet -- any day now... This kind of thing makes me feel old. Used to be I jumped right on stuff like this. Now that my sons have become as skilled as they are (and they seem to always have some kind of debt to work off), I have become less willing to turn wrenches. I still do it, just not as often.

I think this weekend looks promising. The front spacers are my last planned mod and I don't know what to do with myself.

hahaha. ive been finding myself getting more and more lazy about modding too. this is one thing i like about the Z. it runs well in stock form.

i think we should get hitachi to make us some D-specs!! :icon17: next season im going to get a nicer HU and speakers. :)

We need someone to come up with decent aftermarket shocks/dampers for those of us who are not using coil-overs. I read soemwhre that the stock dampers in the 2012 Z's are valved like the Nismos.

:icon18:  Dude -- note the word "planned". I should have said "Phase I planned mods".

I am actually thinking of Phase II, the tentative scope of which is:

Lightweight main pulley (NST or Stillen)
HFC (maybe) I drove Mr. ZForce's Z with the HFCs and it is loud -- a nice loud though.
Silicone coolant hoses (when I do the coolant flush)
ACT or JWT clutch and lighter (not super lightwieght) flywheel
Rear Fog Light
Fuzzy dice
Batman window sticker
Train horn

The last three are optional.

I thought of this one as well, just not sure where to hide the tank and compressor. At 130dba, nobody could use the excuse that they didn't hear your horn.

My thirst for mods cant be quenched. Over the winter, while its off the road, I have plenty of stuff I wanna order.

GTR start/stop
Rear fog light
SS brake lines, fluid, pads
Shift knob
Aftermarket side mirrors
Magnetic differential drain plug
Nav bypass kit

Plus I want more power, Id really love to F.I. I just dont wanna lose reliability though. Im sure I will give into temptation eventually.

Today, I had my MT fluid replaced with Redline and had the car on the dyno to see what I gained since adding my FI cat-back! I gained a solid 5-10 horsepower over my HFC/Y pipe/stock cat-back so I'm very happy. I also have 5 gallons of VP Racing 103 octane race gas in and it definitely improved throttle response and definitely gave some power gains.

Here's one dyno run, I will post pictures and the other videos in my build thread!

Nice. Which Y Pipe have you got?

I used to run a Tanabe Y pipe along with my stock cat-back and HFCs, I still believe that the Tanabe pipe is the best made Y pipe available. The stock Y pipe is pathetic, if you want to keep the OEM cat-back but want more power, a set of HFCs and a y pipe will give you great gains.

Dallaz 11-16-2011 11:14 PM

Thanks. I'll definitely look into the tanabe.

kenchan 11-17-2011 08:14 PM

nice vid. :D

no z action for me today. but did enjoy motoring my G to my buddy's hair place after work to get my haircut.

Dembflyr 11-17-2011 08:31 PM

Drove the Z over to a indoor go kart track. Met up with a bunch of guys from the local Nissan/Infinity club. Ran a couple of races then took the long way home. :D Good time!

KillerBee370 11-17-2011 08:44 PM

Got two new rear tires put on today.

Skeeterbop 11-18-2011 07:43 AM

Haven't done it yet, but I'm taking it out the strip tonight. Hopefully this time their printers are working and I can get some time slips. I'm shooting for 14s this week, which means i need to cut another .3 seconds to comfortably get under 14.

shadoquad 11-18-2011 08:03 AM

drove the Z to the Reservoirs yesterday. Always a good time.

Definitely. The roads around the dams are very curvy and challenging, and the foliage is amazing right now.

I used to tool around Maryland's rural roads in my 67 Datsun roadster -- back in 1979 and 80. There are fun drives around there, indeed.
