Looked closely at the tail of the car today only to find scratches near the emblem where the cat was using the spoiler as a perch. Looks like the Porter cable has to come back out.

Pu55y troubles?

Fire 09-01-2011 06:40 PM

I'm back :crying: Freakin poured at cruise night. I almost had to bail my interior before getting the top up :shakes head: Even with the remote top closing the interior got wet.

Footloose301 09-01-2011 08:26 PM

I got my RE-11's installed today 285/35/19's on stock suspension and wheels. No spacers.

Over the next few weeks I'll get some 255's for the front and lowering springs or budget friendly coilovers (Stance GR+ maybe?) and still debating if I want spacers because I intend to AutoX and 1/4 the car. Any other suggestions? Oh ya, might grab that Stillen front splitter for a lip.

onzedge 09-01-2011 08:43 PM

Footloose -- looks good, man.

Fire 09-01-2011 08:45 PM

I don't think spacers would negatively effect you auto cross. I would avoid side blades as you might not want something sticking out on the side. Just my :twocents: I'm looking to auto cross mine next year. It's a little hard being that I work every other weekend.

Had a near death experience with a tractor trailer, other than that everything is good.

Footloose, those RE11's look so :yum:

Skeeterbop 09-01-2011 10:27 PM

Nice wheels footloose. Snce last week I've started driving as if i'm invisible to other drivers. Last Wednesday I had someone back in to my passenger side door while parked. Got the damage appraised today and it goes in to the shop Tuesday to get fixed. Won't mention how many people have cut me off over the last few weeks. One question though footloose, have you had a chance to evaluate the RE-11s?

kenchan 09-01-2011 10:52 PM

lookin good, footloose!

question for footloose or anyone else. Are there any issues with running 285's in the rear and 255's on STOCK rays???? They don't stick out too far or cause to much flex?

Other than that, it looks great.

Alchemy 09-01-2011 11:21 PM

^you can run those tires no prob.

gurneyeagle 09-02-2011 06:59 AM

I managed to nick the bumper of my two week old car when I pulled into my parking place at work just a smidge too close to the corner of a support pillar that graces my spot (assigned). AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

However............

since I now live in Texas, and the State requires a front plate, the nick will be covered by the plate bracket. So who was complaining about front plates?

Once again, an invasive, all protecting government has come to the rescue of a dumbass! It's nice to know Big Brother is watching out for me.

I've petitioned Governor Perry to install foam rub strips on all curbing in the State so as to protect my rims from inevitable rash. He hasn't gotten back to me yet, but I did notice two Black Suburbans in front of the house today, so I assume those are the guys from the highway department.

So far I've got about 100 miles on them. 70 in dry and they feel great so far. I won't truly know how good they are until they have broken into the camber of my car. Obviously it still spins thru first and a bit thru second but like I said, they don't have 100% traction yet until they're broken in.

However, after I left class last night it was pouring outside, I was completely confident at 80mph. No signs of hydroplaning or anything. With the stock RE050A tires I couldn't do 45mph when they were bald(obviously), the tail of the car would be all over the place just driving straight down the parkway. When the RE050A's were new I would be able to go 60-70mph in pouring rain and that was as far as I felt that I could safely go. Even launching in the rain last night from 0-80mph with the RE-11's was as good as launching the RE050A's in dry. I love these so far and they should only get better.

They don't stick out at all. These are pretty much flush with the wheels. The stock tires have a stretched look to them that I hate and the stock front tires are almost flush with the wheel. Makes the car uneven looking if you ask me.

Some people run 305's in the rear without issues but since they're too wide for the wheel you actually lose out on a full 305 contact patch because the sides of the tires are pulled in to fit the wheel. I would not run 305's unless you just want bragging rights, but your traction is no better and you pay a lot more for those bragging rights.

I was able to play a little bit yesterday after the tires and the front end feels really light in comparison. Can't wait to get a matching set for the front.

Alchemy 09-02-2011 08:04 AM

^ I have 295's on mine and I love em. Almost went 305's but as you said I didnt feel like paying the extra for "braggin rights". I kinda wish I did though.

So you guys are saying, for my next tire purchase, I can just get either 285 or 295's for rears, and 255's for fronts and just mount them directly with no other changes, on my stock 19" Rays?!?!? If so... sweeeeet!

Footloose, what did you mean by get a matching set for the front? You don't like your 255's in front??? Stock is 245, so it looks like you're going 10 over?

Not my car but.... 305's on stock rims with 25mm spacers

FromG2Z 09-02-2011 10:06 AM

No Z action for me today (rain), however, the night before, I washed her..... then last night, I coated her with CG 50/50, then coated the wheels with OCW, and the tires with DP Gel.... mmmm...

This weekend, I plan to change her with Amsoil. Oil check news: at about 700 miles since topping it off to the "H" mark, I lost about 1 to 1.5 mm worth of oil. So I believe I am well into the safe zone, based on the chart on the Oil Consumption TSB. I think the worst case is 9mm of oil measurement loss by 1000 miles. So, I don't believe (knock on wood) I will burn up 8mm worth in 300 miles. YAY for me! So, oil change this weekend to AMSOIL!!!! woot woot...

G2Z- I have aftermarket wheels and my rears are 11 inches wide, I can fit plenty of rubber on there. But yes, people are fitting 305's on the rear stock Rays. Running 255's front and 285-295 rear on the stock wheels wont be a prob.

We have 100 degrees and sunny all weekend. Sunday I am likely cruising out to Forestville on the Russian River for some driving and cabin time. Maybe hit the nude beach and try out my 100 - 400 mm zoom (kidding). :icon17:

I have stock tires in the front. I will be purchasing RE-11 255/35/19's for the fronts in the coming weeks.
