the hatch=the trunk on a sedan=the hatch on an SUV etc. That flimsy door doesn't protect from anything in an accident. There is no way the pillars are plastic underneath. If the car rolled you would just get crushed.

Hood, doors and hatch are aluminum. Aluminum is stronger than steel by weight... Front bumper and rear bumper are plastic. Same with 99% of cars out there these days...side skirts are plastic, but there's steel underneath...they're decorative! The rest is steel. |

Never said anything about the doors or the hood, obviously those are aluminum. I still stand by that the Hatch is plastic though. |

The hatch door is aluminum. Plastic would be lighter, then we wouldn't all need new hatch springs!

The 350Z had a 5-star crash test rating, but I don't know if that was front, rear, or whatever. I doubt Nissan made a large step back with the 370Z. Also, my insurance premiums are slightly less for my 370Z compared to my 2008 350Z.
And the hatch is aluminum, not plastic. |
